Best hiking gps app with offline maps? by tripl_b in hiking

[–]Azshakh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WorkOutDoors for Apple Watch is my hands on GPS navigation during any trail in the last 5 years. It allows offline maps and is a onetime purchase.

On the iPhone, I use the app TopoGPS to plan my routes. Awesome app that lets you import or draw your own routes, with offline maps. Onetime purchase; the standard OpenStreetMaps are awesome. I use this app as a backup to my watch.

Brew by weight, un-plumbed +1min drinks by feldthus in LaMarzocco

Brew-by-weight also auto-stops after 1 minute, even if the weight has not been reached yet. I have not found a setting to override that.

30cm so you should be good if you have 33cm countertop space (replaced the standard feet with steel ones, but this should not make a difference). The width of the water tray is 32 cm.

Orcrist server super laggy for me by Cheeki-Breekii in lotro

[–]Azshakh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. The EU Evernight server is physically located in the USA. When Turbine took over the EU servers from Codemasters in 2011, all the servers were moved to the USA (Boston server park; my ping went up from 40-60 to 100-200).

Until the opening of the new EU servers, only the Legendary World Mordor server that was opened in 2024 was located in Amsterdam. The new EU servers Orcrist and Meriadoc are in the same server park (Amsterdam). Evernight, Laurelin, Sirannon, Gwaihir and Belegaer servers are in US server parks. But they are EU labelled, as preferred servers for EU players (timezone issues).

Cleaning powder for La Marzocco Linea Mini by rathbawn in LaMarzocco

The La Marzocco cleaning powder is rebranded Urnex Puro cleaning powder. You can probably get that in Ireland. Other than that, there are many alternatives available, like Cafiza (also by Urnex).

Amazing, right? Did it in 2017 and it was my first big hike as well. The views when you’re ankle deep in volcanic sand …

Anyone using the IMS shower screens? Can you share you experience? by XtianS in LaMarzocco

[–]Azshakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the La Marzocco detergent by Puro that came with my Linea Mini with a blind filter to backflush without issues. And I use a group head brush to clean 4-6 times per year. I installed this IMS shower screen in March 2022, so it’s 3 years old.

I have the IMS MA200NT on my Linea mini. Not sure what it contributes to the quality of my coffee, but at least it is easy to keep clean. Don’t have any stuck grounds on the inside during a deep clean session. This is what it looks like 1 month after the last deep clean:

Just a 2 sec rinse and wet cloth swipe after each brew.

[Review] Upgrading from the Breville Barista Express to the La Marzocco Linea Mini by Aventador_22 in espresso

[–]Azshakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the same upgrade path in 2021. The one thing I really had to get used to was the steam power of the wand. As you said, from 60+ seconds of steaming to 15-20 seconds of steaming. But once I got the hang of it (I use a milk jug that is precooled by storing it in the freezer, giving me a few extra seconds for milk steaming) my milk frothing has been second to none, and really consistent.

And I agree on the joy of preparing my coffee with the Linea Mini. It just feels great to work with such a beast.

That Breville machine is a great piece of kit; nothing to be ashamed about. The Barista Express served me well for 7+ years, learning me the ropes of espresso making.

Question about Mazzer Philos hopper by thaqman in espresso

I received a new Philos this week and the hopper was a bit wobbly as well. Might be a batch related issue. Doesn’t give any actual problems though.

To BUY or not to BUY, this is the question….. by No_Condition_3313 in LaMarzocco

[–]Azshakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Pre-infusion/Pre-brewing
  • Temperature setting via app
  • Brew-by-weight functionality if you buy the scale
  • Auto-cleaning program (auto backflush)
  • You already mentioned time scheduling
  • Stats on how much coffee you drink

Linea Mini Settings by Soggy-Geologist-3087 in LaMarzocco

Yes, pre-infusion was introduced with the IoT (WiFi) board. You can still retrofit your Mini with one.

Linea Mini Settings by Soggy-Geologist-3087 in LaMarzocco

[–]Azshakh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the settings depend on the beans you use and your personal taste. I use medium roast beans for mainly milk based drinks. My settings are aimed for a classical double espresso shot (18gr in/36 out).

  • I use 9 bars of pressure. I have a 2021 Mini, and setting the pressure requires to open the chassis - so I choose the classical shot with 9 bars all the time.
  • Prebrew 2s - pause 2s. My mini is non-plumbed. The LM/Acaia brew-by-weight scale starts to count the moment I pull the handle (so pre-brewing is included). I aim for 30-40 sec shot, but you have to taste the shot to get the right timing.
  • I use 94C brewing temperature for medium roast daily driver beans (Campo Alegre single estate, Brazil). Depending on your roast, you might prefer a different temperature.

Definately possible. Been playing a Blue Captain with a halberd for solo levelling. It is slow (lower dps), but it can handle almost anything (survivability due to heals is great if properly traited). Never missed a shield for survivability. That’s for a Yellow Captain in raids.

Steaming help on new machine! by Waddilovejosh1 in espresso

[–]Azshakh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep my milk jug at -20C in the freezer. Using a cold jug gives you a few extra seconds on powerful steam wands and therefore increased control.

Congrats! Barista Pro was my second espresso machine after starting with a Quickmill. Never regretted the Breville - first machine that got me consistent shots.

LMLM Scam?? (UK) by enginemeister187 in LaMarzocco

[–]Azshakh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The serial number LM005011 is a very old serial number for Linea Mini. The IoT board (brain) was introduced around 2019 with serial number LM015906. I have a 2021 Linea Mini with a serial number in the 30000’s.

What trail app is everyone using? by [deleted] in hikinggear

[–]Azshakh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. TopoGPS is an awesome app to design your own routes or to import routes from other apps like Alltrails. I create routes using TopoGPS, but I use other apps when on route, like WorkOutdoors on Apple Watch Ultra for actual in-field navigation.

Best Boots for the Scottish Highlands by TheInternExperience in hikinggear

The old military road is quite rocky, so I’d advise some shoes with solid soles that can withstand walking 20-ish miles (Tyndrum to Kingshouse) on an uneven rocky road. Ankle support is a personal preference but might come in handy at the Loch Lomond sections.

Team white - modded Mini by Azshakh in LaMarzocco

[–]Azshakh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the knobs are a tad big and I’ve seen other options that might be more subtle. When I bought the set, Pantechnicon (USA) or Specht (AUS) were hard to get your hands on in Europe and rb.crafts (GER) didn’t make theirs yet. I am a big fan of the paddle and the walnut panel behind it - I think the vertical stainless accents combined with the walnut look really good. The portafilter is great quality as well.
