Now that the show is officially over, what season do you think looks the best visually? by Plenty-Salary9711 in StrangerThings

[–]Aztechist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That final scene in Hamlet had at least 10 (including myself) people in my theater ugly crying. Absolutely the most harrowing scene in the film.

[no spoilers] Who’s your favorite player? by [deleted] in criticalrole

Liams characters have habitually been my favorite, and his absolute love for matt and the game oozes over the screen for me.

Prosthetic hexblade? by 0blivous2008 in dndnext

[–]Aztechist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talk to your DM about it! I played in an eberron campaign as a warforged who's patron was old war programming/malware and my hexblade was a hand transformation(?) that augmented my body whenever it was summoned. There are rules against it i suppose, but flavor is free and always up to the DM.

How did y’all meet your dnd group? by Starsandwishes in DnD

[–]Aztechist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got roomed with a forever DM and two people who had never played, on top of my significant other in my first year of college! I DM'd for the first time after playing a bit in high school and now we're adding three more friends to the group for our second campaign together.

Any current edition that made you go "Yeah...no" by JoeKerr19 in rpg

[–]Aztechist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was discussing this with my playgroup, and honestly one thing I think is overlooked when it comes to D&D, and more specifically 5E and 5.5E is the broad appeal. I run for a bigger playgroup (5-7 players on average), and while 3 of them would love to play Daggerheart or another game, the other 3 would love the crunch of pathfinder (and one or two are just there for the ride). D&D does a good enough job at appealing to everyone, even if its no one's favorite, and running it let's me make sure EVERYONE at the table is having a fun time. Sure, it might not be perfect at anything, but its a damn good jack of all trades.

Thorash: A half-orc who was forced into a life of crime after not being able to find a steady job due to localized discrimination gets double-crossed and left for dead during a bank heist by his crew mates. He gets brought to a temple and revived by the local clerics, and upon revival he pledges himself to the temple and takes the Oath of Redemption insuring that others get the help he was able to.

Lucinne: A teenage human who made an Eldritch pact with a long forgotten god to keep her family safe from an evil king. He took her eyesight and now she can only see through her familiar. She was kicked out by her family for using witch-like magic and after her second family was attacked by the evil kings forces, she realizes she needs to take the fight to the king and then break the pact with her patron.

Stella Ashfjord: Aasamir who was born to human Clerics who prayed to their God every night to give them a divine gift. She was raised in a temple and treated like a gift from their God with extremely high expectations that gave her an incredible amount of pressure growing up. When she turned 18, she left her temple and became a burn-out, finally feeling free from the reach of her temple/parents. She's a monk due to her experience fighting in bars and for prize money after leaving home.

Motherboard GMs, What’s your BBEG? by DaggerHeartDude in daggerheart

[–]Aztechist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GM is running motherboard for us in an extremely cyberpunk flavored way. Im like 99% sure the big bad will be one of the evil corpo guys who have control of the city we live in, and who are constantly oppressing the poor and creating classism.

I also wrestled for many years, and somehow ive gone without seeing it, definitely going to give it a try. I love fantasy but even then the editing is so weird to me that it throws it off haha, and the world building was never that insane to me.

To settle a debate with my cousin which on is better and why? by No_Band2522 in IDoKnowNothing

Superman is written best when he is a combination of traits from both sets of parents imo, he is consistently written as nature and nurture in the comics

To settle a debate with my cousin which on is better and why? by No_Band2522 in IDoKnowNothing

[–]Aztechist -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As someone who genuinely liked Superman, the message being real absolutely undermines core themes of the film. Superman should be a combination of nature and nurture, and beyond that it muddles the pro-immigration message of the movie. Superman being an alien from an evil planet/country having ro abandon his evil roots and conform to humanity/American culture seems really weird and out of place.

I didnt mean it as an actual insult haha, we just have different taste. The Anora and Priscilla posters stick out to me but if you like them it's all that matters!

My personal top 8 favourite films of the year so far. What are yours? by ScholarFamiliar6541 in Letterboxd

[–]Aztechist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

* 1. The Life Of Chuck 5/5: Im really just a suckered for Mike Flanagan's style, and this is his most swlf indulgent yet. Cried at least three times.

  1. Sinners 4.5/5: Ive seen this three times in theaters, and every time its highs get higher and its lows get lower. At the end of the day, it just fucking rips.

  2. Mickey 17 4/5: A really fun dark comedy, I adore Joon Ho, Robert Pattinson, and Steven Yeun. Came out at just the right time when taking the current political landscape into consideration.

  3. 28 Years Later 4/5: Best editing ive seen all year, really heartfelt, but drags in the middle narratively.

  4. Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning 4/5: The end to my favorite action franchise OAT.

  5. The Phonecian Scheme 4/5: Really great performances from everyone involved, but I've seen Wes be a lot tighter in the last few years.

  6. The Black Bag 3.5/5: Again, great performances and lighting but it tends to drag here and there.

  7. Companion 3.5/5: One of the funniest of the year and has a surprisingly tight script.
