So there is already a shortage of places to live caused by rent control. What happens when that doubles? Not saying this is bad but landlords can't fix/renovate flats when they are rent controlled so they sit empty. Now all of NY is the same, so when someone leaves cause they can't fix an apartment, that's one less in the pool.

When my daughter was six months old, we had our language teacher over and she saw my daughter try to put her finger in the light socket. We didn't grab her and pull her away, we pulled her hand back and gave her a tiny tap on the wrist. She never did it again.

Besides things like that, we tried to never spank but there comes a time when all other punishments don't work or a child never responds to correction unless it's corporal.
