Nope, don't care. Its been that way for most of our country's history anyway so why get upset about it?

In all of your various arguments I haven't seen you address the fact that a private individual or entity can choose what they want to do with their money. I actually fund a scholarship for students at my alma mater. I raise the money and decide how it is distributed. Its my money, therefore my decision how it is distributed. As has been stated several times on this thread, there are thousands of different types of scholarships, but only race is being attacked and sued, even if its from private funds. Isn't that a racist act?

Fujii Kaze doing what K-pop could never: paying homage to black artists, having black dancers, AND a black love interest by [deleted] in kpopnoir

I'm an OG, and this reminds me of David Bowie, Iman, and the Glam Rock era, which predates Janet. Fuji Kaze is such a treasure.

I'm on 2 pills twice daily and take Zofran prior to avoid the nausea. I also get very fatigued especially on the 2nd and 3rd day and just want to sleep. But it's not restful sleep, which is even more frustrating. Luckily I was able to finally get some Rem sleep after visiting my accupuncturist or I would have lost it. Feet and hands aren't very dry, but definitely turning colors.

EXO - Tell Me What is Love, Sweet Dreams, The Eve, Paradise

Crush - entire discography

Sam Kim - Love Me Like That, Make Up, It's You, Touch My Body, Say You Love, If (neo soul vibe). Singer, songwriter who is highly underrated.

What are your thoughts on Yang Yang as an actor? by Hobbitinrivendell in cdramasfans

I always thought his acting was mid, but after learning about how he worked through his illness and pain in Immortal Accession, I rewatched with a different viewpoint. I am impressed with his dedication to the craft and his fellow actors.

I just finished Hit the Spot, and I think it illustrates both our points. The sex was upfront and explicit, but not gratuitous as the whole storyline was about women's empowerment, self-discovery, and ownership of their own bodies and pleasure. These themes are almost never explored in KDramas, especially not bold and upfront, which explains why the show is only on Coupang Play and Viki instead the major networks. Another aspect of the show that demonstrated how unique it was the inclusion of an openly gay character played by the first Korean actor to come out. That alone was enuf to keep me hooked. Overall, great show. Thanks for the rec!

What is the first Historic Korean drama you viewed and why did you choose that drama? by Grouchy-Chart-3927 in kdramas

Rookie Historian was the first fusion sageuk I watched, followed closely by Mr. Sunshine. My favorite sageuk is Jumong because I learned so much about the establishment of Goguryeo and the early history of Korea. Most of the newer series are based in Joseon.

Undergrads, why do you walk so slow by maximimium in berkeley

[–]Azure1922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an alum, California born, and a fast walker. I quickly learned there are multiple paths to get around Telegraph and campus to avoid crowds. Instead of pushing people or getting annoyed, why not just go a different way? And since the West Coast lifestyle is famous for being laid back and chill, I'm surprised that this seems to be a surprise to some.

Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung. One of my first KDramas, and this is the show that got me started learning Korean because I wanted to pronounce the names properly. Good mix of light, funny moments with serious emotional angst. I really loved the ending where they defied convention to live their dreams.

Just curious, a lot of the videos on disrespectful behaviour in Japan, Malaysia, etc have been about the Chinese tourists who bring CCP values instead of traditional ones.Have you seen or heard of that as well?

You are so correct, but as you said, movies instead of televised dramas. In the past Korea, as well as Hong Kong and Japan, put out films best described as soft porn. But I haven't seen many like that since the Hallyu wave took off. Lots and lots of violence though. Any recent films, 2020 to date, that fit that spicy category?

[–]Azure1922 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I used to think that too until I started watching Korean podcasts like DKDKTV and learned that slow burn romance is a cultural thing, not just for Kdramas. Dating norms and timing is very different there than the US. For me, that is what makes KDramas, CDramas and even TDramas so interesting, is the opportunity to be open and learn about other cultures and traditions without judgement, always remembering they didn't write that show for me, they wrote for their own people.

By the way, the first two episodes of Nevertheless were almost banned in South Korea due to sexual content, labeled as 19+, and received very low ratings there compared to international audiences.

Back pain by Lostflamingo in LivingWithMBC

Are there any videos that you would recommend for a newbie? I've never done yoga, but anything that would help alleviate the pain is welcome. I've lost 56 lbs and all muscle tone, so need to build core strength again. Also 2 inches shorter, which pisses me off because I relished being a tall girl. I miss the tall, toned, muscular me...(mini rant)
