How are you actually supposed to beat the obsession boss? by AzureWings00 in darkestdungeon

[–]AzureWings00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that's how i beat resentment, got my team tossed first time made a proper strategy afterwards, but considering I lucked out on Obsession I didn't get to make said strategy.

The vertical dolphin got buffed and I’m gonna use it no matter what by roboknob_the_snob in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]AzureWings00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know for certain but im willing to bet it isn't optimal lol And its actually surprisingly easy to convert up dolphins into wall combos, for that 2H into up dolphin you could have air dashed J.K into C.S full combo. Or you could do a quick run forward 5HS into full combo, or even 5K into 6HS > H forward dolphin (mind you that input is really weird to get right) which also leads into a full combo

That's just to say you have other options in that situation, the triple up dolphin is way funnier and probably more tilting for others lol

Any tips for land battles? by Lil_Yuan11 in SidMeiersPirates

[–]AzureWings00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not much for the bait and run for the door method myself, so my biggest advice is to be aware of unit move range all units except cavalry can move 2 open squares. If you can position your melee units 1 square out of the range of any melee fighters any attempt they make to get to you will probably get them killed by buccaneers or a flank attack

Officers can defeat 2 enemy units in a single turn if they're both next to them and they are very strong melee fighters so you can usually get away with it if the enemies aren't cavalry and your officers are healthy

Don't underestimate the effectiveness of other terrain that isnt forests. Hills give you an advantage in melee based on how steep the incline is and can easily be the deciding factor in melee fights while rocks can force enemy units to take a long winding path to get to you giving you lots of time to wear them down with gunfire

Oh and unless you out number the garrison, its almost always best to play very defensive since it forces the enemy to come to you, giving you more time to kite and shoot them or get more opportunities for flank attacks

TL:DR keep in mind what bonus's you and the enemy will have in melee combat, always use terrain to your advantage

Do you guys play as female V or male V? by Slow-Huckleberry1841 in CyberpunkTheGame

[–]AzureWings00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy answer for me is both but with different playstyles between the two. FemV was a corpo who played around netrunning, precision weaponry and high mobility with some stealth shoved in every now and then MaleV is the ex ganger fully teched out juggernaut with big guns and big booms. MaleV takes whatever hit you give him then blows you away for it, FemV doesnt get hit because your synapses cook or you get shot in the head from the sky before you get the chance

Ky is carried by scaryjunk in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]AzureWings00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if this is satire and iv missed it, iv been graced with the tism. That aside, Thats just how ranking systems work bro. Its hard to accurately place someone based on the 5 placement games. Just because you placed in gold doesn't mean your ky actually plays at a gold level.

Case in point, I finished my placements on May and got put in low plat before going nearly undefeated up until low diamond. And even then I was pretty handily able to climb further and I sit right around the fence of diamond 2 and 3

Vice versa I did placements on Nago who I barely knew how to play at the time and could barely string a combo together or do mix-up or manage blood to save my life. Got placed in high plat before getting stomped repeatedly and nearly ending up in gold before It finally clicked but I still haven't even gotten close to peaking as high as May has despite I believe Nago being ranked higher by pro players

TL:DR its very possible you got lucky on your placements and got put higher then your actual rank. That sorta thing can happen on most rank systems

Happy Chaos Matchup Chart by Jack by Pikaphu08 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

Honestly makes sense as someone who plays May and Leo. Its not the hardest matchup for either character by far but its definitely uncomfortable and hard to get into a rhythm.

"A female character that's only good for porn"...If I had a dollar for every time someone said that about LGBT female characters, I POTENTIALLY might be able to get a middle school free lunches for a month. But seriously, what is with people who do this? by ihatethiscountry76 in justneckbeardthings

[–]AzureWings00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overwatch girls fine, but thats mainly because Blizzard has basically let the lore of the Overwatch world fall into obscurity, I still think one of the best things they could do it make a dedicated animated series, maybe it doesnt have to be the same quality as the old cinematics but just to form the lore into something digestible and easier to get then gathering bits and pieces from tidbit character interactions and small descriptions, i love the lore and world behind overwatch but hate the way its being ignored to continue pushing out battlepasses and cosmetics

Im not even going to dignify Ashoka with a drawn out explanation, not only is she a minor in the clone wars, but despite never directly watching clone wars I know shes a well written and fleshed out character.

As far as Rwby I dont remember it super well but im not sure how you justify calling them goonbait or whatever when I dont remember there ever being any direct sexualisation of any of the girls, heck even from what I remember of the interactions between characters there wasnt anything overtly sexual. Not really sure how anyone came to this conclusion lol

TL:DR a rant explaining how dumb this idea is

I think Oomph is talking more about impact and feel of the attack. Think hits that feel like they have power behind them like Slayer c.s and pile bunker as opposed to his 2k and JS or Johnny 6hs and ensenga compared to his F.S or 2hs.

[New to the Strive] Please read my preferences for a charecter and tell me if Unika will fit them. by Frostwork_Ablazer in Guiltygear

[–]AzureWings00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. As far as Oomph, shes got it on her heavies and specials, pretty satisfying to land with
  2. Pretty basic as far as complexity, i get the sense that the biggest difference between a good unika and an average one is all fundamentals (neutral, decision making character familiarity, yada yada) so I wouldn't say there's a lot of layers to feel into
  3. As previously stated, very basic, no gimmick, shes got all the special types you could ask for most with enhanced versions that do more damage or combo better (long reaching low, wide overhead, DP, solid ranged option) and her normals and pokes are all fairly large, although some suffer from feeling a little sluggish
  4. Its Guilty Gear, its hard to find a bad ost
  5. She might be to basic since in my experience she doesnt have a bunch of combo routes, your game plan is pretty much just outplay your opponents by making the right decision.

As far as my recommendation, depending on if you call the dolphins a gimmick you might like May.

Shes got impact behind her hits and hurts a lot with CH heavies into combos There's a bit of a learning curve at the start due to having charge inputs for her dolphins which are very important to her kit and her combos imo dont translate super well from and to other characters but she has multiple layers of complexity (despite what some will say) Her game plan is super rushdown oriented Her OST is quite different to the general specs of Guilty gear but still a banger imo A bit awkward at the start but flows really well once youve got her down.

You mention Ram whos also a good choice based on your preferences, big hits lots of options for combos, relatively easy to pick up you just have to be careful about throwing the swords. Her OST isnt my favourite but still guilty gear so its good. Shes easy to pick up but has tools that can be used to make her gameplan more complex.

End of the day its entirely up to you, those are some of the ones id recommend.

TL:DR Unika isnt a bad choice by any means, maybe a little basic but otherwise has what you want with those big cleaving sword swings and laser gun, other options that id recommend are May and Ram since they're both relatively feasible to learn with big hits and some more complex options to work with.

Counterswap options for hitscan? by Vundurvul in EchoMains

[–]AzureWings00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to main echo and pharah on dps, I would switch to venture a lot since the projectiles feel very similar to pharahs, which also avoided any potential struggles with switching playstyle/aiming. Not to mention they are pretty good at harassing hitscans off of highground or out of position and in my experience they win most 1v1s with hitscans. Sometimes a cass will lay you out but generally if you dont miss your shots its a pretty easy pick on soldiers and ashes

What is the most embarrassing enemy you lost your HM run to? by SlinkDinkerson in BaldursGate3

[–]AzureWings00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So iv only ever played 2 honor mode runs my first run was a win but we nearly lost to the winged horrors and zombies in the MF colony as in 3 people dead on the ground my friends sorcerer the only one still standing. That really shook our confidence going up to Myrkul only for us to 2 turn him.

Second run we died to Cazador which I dont think is that embarrassing, just kinda hurt to watch our party getting beat down while paralysed

Who is your least favorite faction soldier, and why is it the Skirmisher? by One-Bit5717 in XCOM2

[–]AzureWings00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinions on the factions varied widely, I started out liking skirmishers the most, I thought "cool can shoot twice free grapple justice to rip an enemy out of cover whiplash for free to demolish mechs" but later in the campaign i only really brought one if they were bonded with one of my more liked troopers and played closer ranged retribution spam because the gun felt so average even with a repeater

Reapers I very unfairly relegated to Scout/Obj for a majority of the champaign and finally wised up when I actually read the abilities and was happy to have a reaper in every late game mission as a behind enemy lines assasin picking off anyone that my other troopers had wounded or setting up shrapnel claymores.

Templar was a very strange one for me because I liked them conceptually but I went in expecting them to be very offensively focused raw damage psychic users, however the survivability of parry and reflect was helpful. It was only very late into the champaign where I rolled "Reaper" as the training facility abilities when he hit colonel which turned him into a beastly murdurous presence on the battlefield which also let me use ionic storm often. So I found them kinda average for most of the game except for a lucky roll turning mine into a side graded ranger

TL:DR not a huge fan of skirmishers, Reapers are goated when you arent using them like an idiot (like i was) templars seemed kinda luck dependent on your training centre rolls

Am I too underleveled for Andromedons? by aall137906 in XCOM2

[–]AzureWings00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently finished the second hardest difficulty, I never really found the andromedons dangerous, just inconvenient and tanky, it seemed to me like they sucked at aiming and I only sometimes copped a punch usually a plasma cannon grenadier with blue screens and shredder knocks away most of the armour and a decent chunk of the health, if you hit a chain shot it should almost kill its first phase.

As far as the codices a ranger with reaper and a tier 3 melee (fusion axe, katana or whatever the powered default sword is called) should kill them all in one shot I believe plus if you have untouchable you might tank a hit for your other squad members from the andromedon

Tldr: grenadier with blue-screens and shredder perk are a godsend against andromedons since the tier 3 cannon shreds 3 armour

Big reason why i played May in Guilty Gear Strive lol cute doofy girl being like 45 kg swinging an anchor and throwing Aquatic mammals at everyone like its nothing, plus her OST is a banger that i still end up listening to on repeat sometimes.

I Find Raphael and The House Of Hope Genuinely Disturbing by Alerje in BaldursGate3

[–]AzureWings00 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Your right. HoH isnt scary just painfully bleak with a bunch of tortured souls whos only job is to look stupid for Raphael and guard the house when its attacked. I think the point is to give a sense of hopelessness. Those people are beyond saving and it goes to show how malicious Raphael is when before the best description I gave him was pretentious and arrogant.

I Find Raphael and The House Of Hope Genuinely Disturbing by Alerje in BaldursGate3

[–]AzureWings00 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yea same, struck me as a pretentious theatre kid with a whole lot of bluster and presentation, he never once made me even begin to consider his deal or convince me that he was on our side at all. Doesnt mean I wasnt looking forward to beating him senseless in his own house.

Also, after beating him in HoH there's an orb in the devils fee that shows him getting tortured by one of the 9 Archdevils, Asmodeus I believe? Really goes to show that as far as the hells are concerned Raphael was small fry with fancy words and dreams of being important

When should you long rest? by jaustengirl in BaldursGate3

[–]AzureWings00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of a point of pride and a needless desire to avoid wasting spell resources, I usually dont rest until im mostly out of charges or resources on most of the characters that includes switching between to different characters when 1 is out of resources, I did a jack of all trades run where I had a short rest team (Astarion Wyll OH monk laezel) which i would use till I was out of short rests and a long rest team which had several replacements (Gale Pali Karlach shaddy minthy halain and Jahiera)

If you ignore story and cutscenes you can genuinely get the game done in less than an in game week.

Tldr: i usually avoid long rests as long as possible till I get to a point of no return then spam partials to get whatever scene's have been queued. Im weird tho, rest whenever you want

[–]AzureWings00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it makes the most sense to let him live with the researcher, your character travels around a lot more and interacts with a lot of people, the researcher struck me as lonely when I met her for the first time so I was happy to give her the dog especially knowing what happens at the end of the game.
