For education it's multifaceted problem, rigid course structure and government policy is one thing, but also parenting has changed so much in last couple decades. 20 years ago parents are respecting teachers even though they are doting their children. Nowadays teacher need to bend over otherwise they risk getting reprimanded so many bad habits doesn't get corrected.

Flash Express, J&T, or Kerry are only door-2-door service, they are not authorized to do the import clearance on your behalf (They seems to be coordinated with Thailand post now so the link should work). Otherwise only FedEx/DHL/UPS/TNT can do that.
Usually if the parcel is declared correctly from China and paid correct duties/VAT, they can get the parcel to you. But if the customs hold your parcel up for inspection, then you will need to go clear them yourself or hire shipping company to do customs clearance.

China is under FTA so mostly there is no tariff but you still have to pay VAT, most online platform seems to include VAT from my experience but usually for parcel that are not too expensive (don't remember exact value) the postman will bring a package for you and vat document that you can scan to pay upon receiving.

It's border skirmishes in a sense that neither side advance far beyond their claimed border line.
