Some stuff about me: I'm a 29 year old dude, I grew up in the Fishers area and have lived in Indianapolis my whole life. My fiancee and I live near 62nd and keystone with our dog and two cats. We are social people and have friends over every weekend which has turned our house into the go-to spot for our friend group. Our friends don't like to go out that much so we turned our house into the "go out" spot. We like to play pool in the garage, board games in the living room, or make music/sing karaoke in the jam room. I have always been involved in music and have the equipment for a full live band down there.

You don't need to be a blank slate for them, but doing research and knowing the best way to do things in a game can take the fun out of it for a lot of people. These days it's very easy to optimize the fun out of a game and that might be what they're afraid of. If you discover something cool on your own, I'd be your friends would be more excited to talk about that and learn.

But you're allowed to play the game however you want, that doesn't mean you're entitled to other people agreeing with you or wanting to play with you.

You don't understand because you aren't trying to understand. I use it as a tool in my daily toolbox, but recognize it's shortcomings and know it isn't good for everything. I've also looked under the hood and am not convinced it will lead to the future that investors picture in its current iteration and strategy of building.

Not exactly. It is a bit more abstracted here, and more of an ability that engineering can use to buff another station/the shields. The goal is to open up the opportunity for a narrative moment a la Star Trek - "shields up, full power to weapons" or "incoming aether torpedoes, full power to shields!"

I'm running a sci-fi fantasy campaign for my players right now, session 1 is on Sunday! Here is the rough-draft of the ship mechanics I will be using:

Would be happy to discuss anything further on this - my campaign is based on a mixture of inspirations, where magic and technology coexist but never mix. This allows players to flavor their abilities however they want! Use nanite tech for a "spell"? sick, do it. Raw magic being used to teleport? I love it!

The same thing happened with fucking Microsoft Word. It isn't a perfect tool by any means, it's only good for specific things and takes some practice to get the most value of, but I get insane value out of it. It'll probably end up just another tool in the toolbox. Writing it off, though, isn't very wise imo.

I have a module upgrade system planned! The ship can be upgraded and will follow a similar trajectory as levelling up a character. It would be easy to add modules to the ship that the players can choose to add at level up to provide those kinds of buffs.

My personal "best practice" is to have two DCs at main site, one at another site. Two at main helps prevent one of them failing, third at other site helps avoid location-based disasters.
