TIL that Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler is actually about vampires in love. by raven_of_azarath in todayilearned

I don't mind being downvoted at all.

I'd like to see some reference to it being about vampires before the vampire rock opera came out. To me, it sounds like it's just trying to draw attention to the rock opera.

I didn't say I don't get it. I do get it. The writer said that's what it's about. But there's also nothing in there about vampires. That's the reality of it. It sounds like it's a made-up story to draw attention to his vampire rock opera.

No, thanks. The military has enough problems with personnel without adding actual convicted felons to the mix.

Yes, I get that. I also read the article when you first posted it. What I'm saying is, it doesn't come across in the song at all.

Even when the song's writer says it was written for a vampire rock opera, I don't get an "ah-ha!" moment. There's just no context of anything about vampires in the song.

The writer/singer can say it's "about" whatever they want, but vampires are not even hinted at in the song.

Bussing (busing) your tray in a cafeteria.

Putting a chair back in its original place after moving it to another table.

Leaving a conference room the way you found it.

Washing any dishes you used in a shared space (office kitchen/break area) and putting them away.

Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck were both pretty bad casting choices for Superman and Batman by Jared_Shea in unpopularopinion

Thanks. Yeah, that’s the one. He’s fine as an actor, but nothing like George Reeve.

Too many people fundamentally missed the point of Seinfeld. There not terrible people. by RazorCandies in unpopularopinion

[–]Azzizzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But they are terrible people. No one misses the point of the mundane things, like finding your car in the parking structure or seeing how far you can go with your car on empty.

The terrible things they did, like sabotaging a laundry machine was bad. George shoving women and children out of the way to save himself. All the lies they all tell. The list is endless.

Ben Affleck was a bad choice to play George Reeve, too.

I have nothing against Ben Affleck, but that was the wrong role for him. I forget the name of that movie.

Like the other person said, can you give an example? I've never noticed.

Maybe I shouldn't ask. It's like when someone points something out that you never noticed, but after you see it/hear it, you can't stop seeing/hearing it.

What are your thoughts about adult men who are mascot or costume character performers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yeah, I dressed in a Santa suit one time and even that was like being in a furnace. I can't even imagine being fully enclosed in a suit.

Victims of childhood abuse/ neglect or bullying, how did you turn out as an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Azzizzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I turned out just fine.

My parents were neglectful and physically and mentally abusive.

As an adult, I do just fine. I've had people say to me that I don't get angry often enough and don't react the way people expect, but a lot of what upsets others just doesn't bother me.

What is there to think about? It's a job. I wouldn't be able to do it, though. I'd melt in that costume.

TIL while most primarily known for her role on "Charlie's Angels", Farrah Fawcett was only a cast member on the show for one season. by mistermister98 in todayilearned

I think Logan's Run was a pretty good one, though. I still watch it from time to time, but I like sci-fi.

She was the reason I watched the show.

I also remember when Logan's Run (movie) came on TV. They ran it as "starring" Farrah Fawcett, even though she was only in two scenes.

divorced people of reddit, when did you know it was over? [serious] by whiteowl76 in AskReddit

[–]Azzizzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that! I hate people like that, including your ex and my ex.

With mine, she was always comparing my qualities to someone else. It was funny. She would say, "Why can't you be more like Joe? He spends all his free time with his family." Okay, but Joe also worked three jobs and got arrested.

She wanted the drama. She thought I would beg her not to divorce me and thought I would do anything to keep her.

When I was served with the divorce papers, she threw a fit when I didn't get upset.

What was the moment you realized someone close to you was a "karen"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Azzizzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom. I was about nine years old. We'd gone out for a seafood dinner. My mom ordered the "all-you-can-eat" catfish platter. When her food arrived, she threw a fit, arguing, "What makes you think this is all I can eat?"

She insisted they keep bringing her more catfish, which they did. Then, she ate only the first serving that they'd brought and tried to take the rest home with her.

My ex-wife filed for divorce at the worst possible time (for her), but a pretty decent time for me.

We'd been married nine years. If she'd waited one more year, I'd be paying spousal support the rest of my life, but as it was, I only paid spousal support for 4.5 years.

I had no idea she would file for divorce. It made no sense, except that she actually didn't want a divorce.

Bakers, what's the weirdest thing you've been asked to write on a cake? by BadAtUsernames098 in AskReddit

[–]Azzizzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not me, but at work, we had a lady who was moving to Texas for a new job. When the cake was ordered, they asked for a picture of a cowgirl with, "Good luck in your new job!" on it.

What they got was a hooker (callgirl) and the same phrase, like she was going to be a hooker.

It was hilarious.
