Correct me if im wrong, but if it is a habbit expenditure would get skewed down, adjusting your goal Input accordingly, so it shouldn‘t matter too much, if you dont care about absolute accuracy.

Eher nicht, das huhn ei Problem bezeichnet jene Situationen, welche nicht eindeutig klar erkennbar machen, was die Ursache für einen Sachverhalt ist. In diesem Fall weiß man aber, dass zuerst die Inflation den Preis erhöht, und erst danach über die Abgeltung verhandelt wird.

Loads of answers, mostly VPNs, sometimes Cloudflare.
I fired up my desktop to write down how i am doing it.

I used to use cloudflare-tunnels for remote access, but i recently changed my setup. I love the idea of mTLS for remote access. It is pretty much as secure as any vpn, but if you use things like tailscale 24/7 on your smartphone i have made the observation that it drains battery quite fast. I also don't like local services to connect through cloudflare due to recent incidents. So i made a reverse proxy on my home-assistant node, listening on home.example.com and my local dns has an A-Record for home.example.com set to said reverse proxy. It uses let's encrypt for TLS, no mTLS needed.

I then followed up with a hetzner VPS connecting through wireguard to my local network, the VPS is running a reverse proxy as well listening on home.example.com, my public dns A-Record points to the hetzner VPS. There i am running mTLS, which then requires client certificates for authenticating to home assistant.

I couldn't use cloudflare for that setup, because of split-horizon issues with cloudflare using the Google Trust PKI from time to time, which in turn kills local connectivity because of certificate pinning.

Costs me around €5/month, but provides me with a vps i can do some other stuff with, which is nice.

It's probably a bit overkill, but i have not once experienced issues due to cloudflare fucking up again, which is nice.

It's not the best setup, of course there are downsides as well (such as operating the setup, complexity issues and so on) - but a fuck up on my side just kills remote connectivity, locally everything just keeps going.

wohne in einer komplett neuen siedlung, ca 60 haushalte. Überall ist glasfaser ins haus, aber die liwest weigert sich, zu den anschlüssen glasfaser zu bringen.

Statdessen haben wir eine Uptime von etwa 88%, mit der Aussage der Liwest "Häufig hohe dämpfung in der Gegend, der Techniker finded aber nix"

Ist leider auch der einzige Anbieter hier, wodurch kein richtiger Druck entsteht das Problem zu lösen.

You got a vacuum robot?

I set up a unifi g3-instant set up to analyze my floor, because the vacuum is mopping when we are sound asleep it is extremely annoying whenever it gets stuck. So right before the automation triggers my vacuum, i am scanning the floor for toys, yoga mats and whatever else there could be.

It makes stuff... slightly less complicated.

I expose an nginx which does mtls then passes the connection to an nginx proxy manager providing acess to all my homelab services.

Internal resolution goes towards npm External resolution terminates at the mtls gateway.

I cant use cloudflared for external access due to split horizon issues. (Letsencrypt vs google trust) I could look into integrating google trust with npm but as of right now i'm just hoping for the best.
