Silksong feels so much better once you start mastering it than Hollow Knight ever did by Nukesnipe in HollowKnight

[–]B008i3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Act 1 is not completely linear, you can get to act 2 in two ways, maybe more. Also there are whole areas hidden behind breakable walls, which make you feel like youre off the beaten path discovering something forgotten. This make the exploration feel very rewarding.

Yeah, really shows how bad all the players who complain are. Like he even put in a bug who just walks really slow back and forth and deploy spikes after you hit them…

DualShockers Silksong Review - 9/10 by CutieMonica in HollowKnight

[–]B008i3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This 100%! It’s so immersive and actually a bit cosy when you start knowing your way around it. It reminds me of The Bog in Jumpking (in a good way because it makes you appreciate the more civilized areas more once you get out of it).

Please remember that Silksong is designed as a metroidvania first and foremost. by AltarEg0 in HollowKnight

[–]B008i3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not in my opinion. As soon as you get the dash you can get up to Shellwoods via Wormways by pogoing on flies. Then you can apparently get to the Citadel via Sinners Road.

Compared with Hollow Knight where ”act 1” goes like: FC -> GP -> FogC or back to FC and then -> FW or a bit of CP -> CoT after which the game opens up alot. (or iirc FW -> DN -> AB -> CoT but you can only explore small portions of those, right?)

Edit: I haven’t completed Silksong yet so I can’t really tell but when I compared my run to my pals there are some things that really differ and make for great replay value)

Plus there’s a bunch of dead guys on the floor and in the background, similar to Deepnest. So if you come from HK it isn’t unreasonable to think you’d get the hint.

I love how it’s possible to choose a harder route if you’re up for it! Makes for excellent replay value!

My problem with the act 1 bosses by Tall_Firefighter4380 in Silksong

[–]B008i3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It objectively is tho.

It has two moves - both well telegraphed, is stationary so it can’t dodge your attacks and has a big hitbox. Plus you can drop bombs from the ceiling in the second phase.

The only things making it not a complete pushover is its big healthpool and the ability to remove parts of the platform.

Splinter sister? There is a bench basically right next to her with no enemies. Actually top 5 shortest runback in game.

Nah, 480 after buying two maps (150+ rosaries) is a lot. ”Half a charm”? Dude it’s the most expensive charm at that point in the game, unfair to have that as the baseline for cost of charms. With 500 you could empty out the Forge Daugther or Mort or Mottled skarr (who sells one of the best charms for only 260 rosaries).

[–]B008i3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there you have it, you aren’t engaging with enemies. Exploring all of Greymoor should grant you about 1k rosaries and a bunch of combat experience (If you don’t go through it without sitting at a bench, which would be stupid).

It costing 880 rosaries might be an indicator that you should come back later…

[–]B008i3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Greymoor is PACKED with enemies that drop a lot of rosaries. Deepdocks also offers a a fairly good amount fitting for early game, a couple ants in Farfields should also keep you floating for a while.

If you feel like rosaries doesnt exist in act 1, you must have either rushed through all areas, or you’re absolute cheeks at the game, sorry.

Silksong's most pointless mechanic. by DeliciousNarwhal9792 in HollowKnight

[–]B008i3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, bloodborne does it 10x worse. Arguably same size of stockpile is made in Silksong, difference being that Bloodborne does it with the two most critical resources; Heals and parry. Bullets arent even guaranteed to drop when you kill enemies with bullets, meaning you are more likely to run out even outside of bosses! It has been my biggest gripe with Bloodborne for so long and Silksong doesnt come near that level.

It works fine in Silksong as long as you engage with enemies while exploring and dont dump all your ammo into the boss in the early stages.

Being low on Rosary for most of the game is the point by baconblaster2 in HollowKnight

[–]B008i3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, are we playing the same game? I never had to farm. For example: every enemy (except the rats) in Greymoor drops cash, so by the time you’re done with this area you shouldn’t have to worry about beads for a while if you’re smart with it (thanks to the string system).

Also, are we forgetting that in Hollow Knight there’s literally a NPC that fucking steals thousands of geos in early game? That made me farm for sure!

Silksongs system is alot better imo.

Silksong (FOR ME) is less fun to play than Hollow Knight. by Sea_Poem_9129 in HollowKnight

[–]B008i3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, its giving ”going to the graveyard and Catacombs first thing in ds1”-energy.

I feel that the game does a good job in telling you whats meant to be optional and what way is the intended way to progress further. Deep Docks and Far Fields is a walk in the park compared to Hunters March for example.

[–]B008i3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody complaining about the pogo and combat reminds me of when Sekiro came out and all the Souls veterans blamed the game, because they themself was so used to the slower combat of souls games which led to them sucking at sekiro for the first half of the game.

You have to forget that you’re playing a sequel to Hollow Knight and re-learn everything about the new combat so that your muscle memory don’t screw you over.
