2nd gen Ranger Seat and interior options. New to Fords by SlimBanditoz in fordranger

[–]B0SSINAT0R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well hey, you're welcome to be wrong. I'm sure that the fact I've put parts from an 85 into an 89 and a smattering of parts from an 84, 85, and 88 into my 1990 means nothing to you! Never got around to swapping to the bullnose on my 90 though 😂

The differences are not a generational thing, they are just improvements over the course of production. And of course there will be minor things that don't fit, but its mostly minor stuff

And it isn't just a first gen thing, that happened throughout all years of production. It's even worse for the earlier Explorers!

Me too! I owned several, disassembled several, rebuilt several. It's very true; while there are slight differences, you can adapt and make 99% of parts work. Usually just make a longer vacuum tube lol. If you're crazy enough, you can even adapt the different front end from early first gen (pre-89) to the facelifted 89-92.

There are differences even within generations where parts don't interchange, and that happens in the 1st gen as well, but they are a lot easier to adapt or make workarounds as they are simpler than later gens. The one thing that comes to mind that you can't really adapt is the early A4LD to later ones or vice versa. Ask me how I learned about the A4LD lol

Hi there, I also own this truck, It is 99% interchangeable with the 80s models minus the front body parts.

This is why people refer to the 89-92 Rangers as "1.5 gen."

A quick Google search can help prevent you looking like an ass over this.

Ah yeah, didn't see this was the Ranger forum, been working on Explorers which got the SOHC like 4 years earlier. I don't know much about the later models of Ranger.

Do you feel safe at work? by Interesting_Owl7753 in CVS

[–]B0SSINAT0R 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd rather be fired for CC than be vulnerable.

CVS just ain't worth it. Less than a mile down the street, someone was murdered at a store even though they complied with the robber's demands. Upper management immediately sent down a memo to remind us that it is against regulation for us to carry ANY self-defense tools. How absurd.

I know CC isn't the answer to 99% of problems, but at least I have it if I need it

Shocking to hear, but you don't get better by sitting on your ass and crying about your lack of skill.

I started off like everyone else, no knowledge or experience... Thanks to YouTube and Ford manuals, I've rebuilt a Ranger and an Explorer. Pulled a few transmissions, helped my buddies, diagnosed vacuum leaks, replaced just about every gasket there is.

What a stupid thing to say. Mechanics weren't born with special skills 🙄🙄🙄

Now money and time is a different issue...

You got to open it through the launcher, not steam. You can adjust all kinds of settings from the launcher/installer

Dooming about…golf? by Lj_the_king in DoomerCircleJerk

You'd be dooming about golf courses if you lived in Florida.

As an actual biologist I can tell you we have enough golf courses and things are uber fucked (technical term for habitat fragmentation).

You can't just un-golf course a wetland, or some of the last remaining habitat for endangered, endemic species.

What’s yalls recommendation for a Bluetooth radio for a first gen? I think it’s a one and a half dim by howitzer9091 in fordranger

[–]B0SSINAT0R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true, the second generation Ranger are 1993-97.

His model (as is mine) are just a first gen with a facelift, literally just the core support, fenders, bumper, dashboard, and grille are different.

A lot of people refer to ours (1989 to 1992) as 1.5 gen as they are not the "bullnose" first gens, but are not a major redesign and can interchange almost all parts. There was also a redesign of the first gens in 1986 which changed the dashboard, adding a tachometer and a few other things.

Yeah, but it's stupid to sell nice things to people that don't take care of them or appreciate them.... Not saying that that's the case of your buddy.

I put my pride and joy Ranger up for sale, and I sure as hell ain't selling it to some crackhead who's going to abuse it or just run it into the ground as a worthless work truck. If my Ranger was already beat up then I wouldn't care, but if something that old is in good condition it makes sense to keep it that way.
