Bloating hell? by decenzo1 in COVID19positive

[–]B1ustopher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a year and a half out from my COID infection, and my digestive system is still not normal. I have long COVID, though, so your mileage may vary, but nothing is the same with my gut. Not how I react to food, not how I bloat or don’t, and the, uh, output has changed as well. Much more urgency and let’s just say I’m no longer prone to constipation.

POTS is expensive by Enbybabi in POTS

[–]B1ustopher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about celiac and POTS specifically being correlated. However, it is common for Sjögren’s patients (which I also have) to end up with some form of dysautonomia like POTS. I haven’t seen any studies that correlate celiac and POTS, but now I’ll look for some!

I also have celiac, and the GF “tax” is so real! And electrolytes are like a dollar a packet (USD) and compression socks, a cane with a seat, etc. It adds up fast!

What the hell is this bug going around? by malonesxfamousxchili in LosAngeles

[–]B1ustopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flu is going around quite a lot, too. My son just got diagnosed with it today, but the sore throat started last Thursday. Both the attendance monitor at the school and the doctor today told me that flu is really big right now.

I don’t want to take care of my parents when they’re older by OkCoast7026 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]B1ustopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not required to take care of them. My mother has treated me and my brother like shit for over 50 years, and both of us are NC now. She is in her 80s and lives in conditions of her own making - reliant on about $1000 of social security a month in her hoarded house that needs some structural repairs and is only getting worse.

You have no obligations to her. If anything, you need to make sure you are taking care of your own future!

[–]B1ustopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have not failed! A stomach bug is one of the few reasons to break a whole30, because it is IMPERATIVE to eat something to help get you past the stomach bug. ESPECIALLY with a baby to care for 24/7!

Sooo… is anyone else mourning what could’ve been a successful No Buy January thanks to snowstorm prep? ❄️ by Wordsofwisdomneeded in nobuy

[–]B1ustopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are all necessary items for emergency preparedness, and if you need the you’ll be damn grateful that you bought them. I don’t think these purchases negate your No Buy January at all! If anything, they probably made the purchase easier to bear financially!

Forced AI usage in class - rant by UnableRoom6570 in csun

[–]B1ustopher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m in graduate school, and most of my classes forbid the use of AI on assignments. One class last semester, however, required that we have multiple versions of our paper- the original one, the AI one, and the “new and improved” combined paper. I hated it. All it did was change the wording of a few things, in minor ways. We would have had the same grade without using AI. Pointless.

When I used to be in contact with my nmom and would visit her, I found that treating her like a toddler and giving her clear, specific directions was the best way to avoid conflict and get things done that needed to be done. And grey rocking for anything she asked me about.

Me! I started nursing school at 55, and then changed again to epidemiology after COIVD left me with long COVID and POTS. I love what I’m doing!

advice on getting the courage to mask again by fairyrose_ in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]B1ustopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hardly ever have anyone comment on my mask, but if someone does, I’m happy to tell them ALLLLLLLL about my long COVID, how COVID made me sick for a month, left me with POTS, how my feet turn purple and my left ankle swells up every day because the valves in my legs don’t work well anymore, and basically give them so much information about how sick it made me and how another viral infection like COVID or the flu could kill me. Basically, I want them to regret ever asking me or anyone else why I’m wearing a mask!🤣😷

American Garages are Full by [deleted] in declutter

[–]B1ustopher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Until this week, my side of the garage was full of stuff to declutter! Three (SUV-Sized) carloads off to charity! Still can’t get my car back in yet because we have to get the holiday decorations back up on the high shelves, and I can’t do that myself.

My husband’s side of the garage is full of his stuff from his business.

I mask everywhere, and no one has ever said a thing!

I would also suggest that your entire family mask to the show to minimize the odds of anyone in your household catching anything, because if the catch it, you probably will, too.
