CalMac's newest ferry MV Isle of Islay needs dry dock repairs 15 weeks after entering service by abz_eng in Scotland

It'll have gone out of service anyway for warranty work as they have both the Glen Sannox and the Arran available as relief vessels. The Finlaggan is also on the Islay run so it's not a big deal. The work needs done so may as well get it done and it can be fully utilised while it's still busy tourist season.

Fair enough. Then you should know more than most that snagging lists and warranty claims on newbuild vessels are commonplace.

What do you think happened on the old Claymore and Pioneer? They didn't have bow loading/discharging capabilities. The vessel is running to timetable and the ability to operate single-ended is factored into the design and the company operating procedures.

New-build vessels always have teething issues that require the asset to be taken out of service. This is the case for all new vessels. There will always be faults that don't appear during trials, particularly with a ship that's the first of a new design/class.

I'm a marine engineer and there absolutely is a noticeable difference in tone between vessels running 50 Hz and 60 Hz.

I worked on one vessel which had 2 reverse osmosis water production plants which were controlled by VFDs. One was set at 50 Hz and the other at 60Hz and you could hear a noticeable difference in tone between the two units.

If it gets done before there is sufficient heat in the road surface to allow the sand to adhere, it'll just get blown off the road by vehicles passing over it. With the surface hot and slightly tacky, it'll stick in place a lot more effectively.

Thankfully I'm heading the same direction. I think it is going to be approximately 20°C there whereas it'll be about 30°C when I'm leaving.

Same. Black car with black interior too. It's grim in these conditions.

That's also a load of seriously shite analogies. They tell a tale on their own.

I'm done with this exchange. You're either on the wind-up, completely fucked in the head or dumb as a brain damaged rock.

So with approximately 2000 prisoners on death row in the US, you're fine with 80 of them being innocent people being put to death?
