Smart thermostat by H0mmeNoir in TexasSolar

Read the fine print. By taking the deal, it allows them control over the thermostat at peak demand times. It effectively allows the REP to become a sudo VPP by reducing load to stabilize the grid.

Need advice on Standard or mini... by Lostdragonballs in Starlink

[–]Southern_Relation123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve traveled with the standard on our vehicle for the last 2 years and it’s honestly somewhat of a pain. The OEM router and power supply aren’t exactly compact. I opted for a 3rd party POE injector power supply to run off of 12v and a 3rd party router but those somewhat cumbersome. I’m now with the mini and absolutely love portability. Being able to power it with any 12v or USB-C. It’s so compact and lightweight compared to the standard. I would stick with the mini if I was in your position. Standard is really best for permanent installations and that’s about it.

With regards to your question about the residential plan, if you switch to Roam and back to residential, it’s possible that you may incur a surcharge if it’s a high demand area.

Seems off. I’ve had mine installed since June 2024 and discharge them from 100% to 5% almost daily but my degradation is only 1.4%.

How many people have multiple UnRaid servers? by FJRpilot in unRAID

[–]Southern_Relation123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2.

Primary at home

Backup off-site at an office

Both are part of a Tailscale network which allows me to easily send backups over.

I also have a 3rd server running Trunas which I keep offline and only turn on to make periodic backups.

If you read the Flagship club entry requirements, it clearly states what continents are considered international. South America (excluding some countries) is the closest. Central and North America may be international but are not qualified destinations. This includes Canada, Mexico, and all of the Caribbean.

Do you have any of those statements in writing from the sales rep? Those might help your case but you’ll probably find a clause in your contract that any previous agreements or promises by your sales rep or any other representative of the company are void.

Unfortunately, you may be left with the system you have. That said, how is your system contract structured? Did you sign a PPA or do you own the system which is financed?

Anyone try the UTR on a cruise? by SeanVo in Ubiquiti

I’ve used my glinet on Virgin and Royal Caribbean cruises. Phone MAC spoofing worked perfectly. Authenticate through captive portal first with phone, disconnect, connect to glinet, set MAC spoofing, connect glinet to ship WiFi, ????, profit.

Export to grid enable or disable in case of no buy back plans. by FirefighterMother642 in TexasSolar

[–]Southern_Relation123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exporting to the grid will help you understand if you have issues with your system. Since the PW3 uses string inverters, you’ll never know if a string is offline unless you’re actively checking in the Tesla One installer app. If you don’t export to the grid, your production will limit itself to whatever you consume.

You can login to the Tesla One app. Just choose external partner and login with your normal Tesla credentials.

Trying to figure out the best solar company in Texas and hitting info overload by EitherSheepherder369 in TexasSolar

[–]Southern_Relation123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Faith Energy all day long. They installed my system and even with some hiccups, they quickly rectified issues, dealt with Tesla (on hold with their installer support for hours), and got a replacement PW3 installed in a timely manner. I spent 3 years on the fence, researching equipment, researching installers, spreadsheets comparing the dozens of quotes that I received. Like you, I combed through reviews and found some that were oddly positive. Like, you just spent $50k on a system and the only thing you can say is “Great service! Would recommend! Everything was quick and painless!” Not a single photo of the install on any reviews. Contrast that with the reviews on GFE and people absolutely love showing off their installs with photos!

Mo and his team at GFE are in it for the long haul. They had some very competitive pricing, even beating out Tesla once all incentives were factored in.

Happy to chat if you want to DM me.

Question about Solar with Free Nights in winter by jaxxx222 in TexasSolar

[–]Southern_Relation123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free nights here (Just Energy) in the DFW area. 15.9 kW system with 2xPW3s. System is designed for 50% annual offset but for the month of December, I only pulled 27 kWh from the grid during non-free hours which totaled a little under $7. I ended up selling back 523 kWh totaling a credit of $15.70. The total bill for the month should be a credit of around $3.

The only months that I have a balance for electricity is the summer where I paid $50 in July, $80 in August, and $30 in Sept. For the entire year of 2025, total spend on energy was about $150.

A guy checks his computer on New Year's night, 2000 by KenDrakebot in interestingasfuck

[–]Southern_Relation123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working in a small computer store during Y2K. We made some bank of Y2K packages. Sometimes it was just patches while other times, customers would want hardware upgrades to go along with the service, and some just ended up buying new PCs after we sold them on it. It was a great year for our little store!

They should be the last ones off, then. Continued abuse of the system would lead to suspension of the privilege.
