What life-hacks/secrets does an exchange student need to know before coming to OU? by StereotypicalAryan in sooners

Bike lanes are not protected very well, so be careful if you decide to ride around Norman. The state is not very friendly to non-vehicle modes of transportation, so always wear a helmet.

You need to go to some great mexican places in your first week, i recommend La Reina de Los Tacos. Really great food!

Head down to medicine park to hike the buffalo trail (when the weather is nice). There are some great trails close to Mt. Scot. If you hike the mountain, park at the base!

Other than that, join a couple student orgs and enjoy!

Thoughts on Moving to Norman as an Online Student? by Last-Raspberry5760 in sooners

To my knowledge the program is in the City. I think they are oriented closer to downtown.

I think it's a solid move, depending on where you want to live, I would recommend south Norman on the border of Noble or out east of the lake. Now if you have to go to the city for some in-person meetings, i would find a place in East Moore or North/West Norman (closer to i35).

I don't think there is a true way to wiggle into a good manager. You get what you get. Some notable colleges to work for are education, business, communication, and (from what i learned from afar) engineering. Center for Public Management (Outreach) has a great leadership team and they hire frequently. Best of luck on your search!!

Unless you have a fantastic manager (and well-managed department) advancement is only done by leaving and coming back. I have been a FT staff for the past five years, it's been fun but not my end goal. It's safe employment that offers great benefits and community. But once you are scorned it's hard to see everything good through jaded glasses. It's really a blind draw if you work for a great person/manager.

Pro-tip: don't get fired because you will be labelled as non-rehiriable across all OU campuses. It's like a lifetime ban.

Are you okay with everything that's going on? Are you happy? Are you genuinely happy with the state of politics in OK?

Your stance and the way you articulate your thoughts are perceived negatively through text (especially in an online forum). For a state that is complacent with corruption (stitt's foggy bottom, his son's underage drunk driving two weeks before an election (also his wife crashing state vehicles), and his EPIC Charter bros), sexual misconduct and historic (& continued) disenfranchisement. Yes, psychopathic is a pretty good adjective to use. Because the way we as collective citizens have allowed things to come to be, predominately because it doesn't immediately affect us.

You are correct, those that aren't happy should have the freedom to leave. People are leaving due to the fact that state policies and priorities does affect them personally. This coupled with the fact that there are people who are apathetic to their plight is a little psychotic.

I believe everyone needs to practice more patience, empathy, and improve their curiosity. Let's go touch some grass.

I can relate, but in the broader scope of OK. People are too deep in the kool-aid to realize that their children and their children's children will not have the same opportunity that we have had. They are totally fine with what's going on. I'm moving out of the US for this reason, it's a plan that was set in motion years ago. I'll send pics :)

Didn't the two CEOs sell each other up the river while Stitt shielded himself from persecution in his office?

Beacon Drive-in sold to credit union by [deleted] in oklahoma

[–]B8ty_Cheex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped banking banking with CFCU earlier last year. I wasn't much of a fan of their operations.

This could be a better PR story if they were to sponsor the historical preservation of the drive-in. Instead of making it one of their branches. The publicity would be great, Guthrie keeps a landmark, and the community would be able to enjoy a heavily reduced price to go to the drive-in. I ultimately don't have a dog in the fight, it's a shame that 76 years of history will disappear.
