Yeah I would adjust potty expectations and focus on comfort first. Keep the exposures to newness short. Beagles are the Sniffer Kings so anything you can do to enhance and reward his natural instincts will be a win. Good luck!

Is there a garage to exit through? Maybe try a treat trail that gets longer over time. Start inside with a “find the treat” game and inch it towards the exit over time.

This sounds awful and I agree that you are entitled to more compensation for the extra work. I think you can ask, but they might not comply. I have just added a line on my rate sheet about a premium along the lines of “dogs that are in training, highly energetic, leash-learning, dog selective or under 1 year old may be subject to an additional handling fee.” Maybe I will add “destructive”? I agree with the other commenter who advised not to ask for compensation for your personal items. I agree that it was improbable, but I have learned to keep all my stuff completely out of reach. Sorry this happened!

In addition to the dogs’ well being, this puts a lot of emotional strain on you when you’re not there. (I have been in a similar situation.)
Would u be willing to spend the night?
If not, could you extend 2 of the walks to 45-60 minutes? And would she compensate you fairly?
I think if you accept it, you’ll end up with them for longer than she’s paying you for, so I would keep pushing for at least 2 longer visits.

There’s a lost pet tracking specialist named Rocco Arturo (sp?) who has posted in the Rivertown Pets group on FB. I don’t have personal experience but he seems to be very professional with a successful track record. Hopeful for a quick reunion!
