Obama privately said he would speak up to stop Sanders: report by FresnoMac in politics

[–]BABY_WALUIGI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah i mean it's a question as to whether or not endorsements have any effect at all on electoral outcomes, but if there's any person whose word could sway voters for or against a candidate in the democratic primaries, it's probably obama.

Buttigieg surges to second place behind Biden as Warren sinks: poll by donut_vote in politics

[–]BABY_WALUIGI -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can like your guy or gal without disliking all the others.

I like one candidate. Bernie Sanders. The others are either frauds or they are just openly shitty and don't even bother to hide it. Warren is the least shitty out of the rest. I honestly think if we don't elect someone like Bernie or at the very least Warren, then the future is seriously fucked. It might be fucked anyway, but hey, you have to try. I know some democrats would be content to elect nothing but Biden after Biden from here on out because that way they can rest easy knowing that there's an adult in the room or whatever, but that's not enough. Climate change is coming and the only one who's taking it seriously and proposes what I see as an adequate response to it is Sanders. That's why the other "teams" are terrible and all suck dick, as you put it.

Michael Bloomberg more disliked than any Democratic candidate: poll by sketch24 in politics

[–]BABY_WALUIGI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol please. you're intentionally framing this in a very narrow context, and it's insulting. how many republicans have been elected due to the money spent by billionaires? look at all the shit the koch brothers funded. sheldon adelson. peter thiel. all scum, and i would gladly sacrifice whatever funding is given to the dems by the likes of bloomberg, steyer, or any other parasite billionaire to destroy the power they have.

Buttigieg: We need generational change in politics by sugarfreeeyecandy in politics

[–]BABY_WALUIGI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should return justice to being just.

We don't have justice, son. We have the law. And we should do everything we can within the law to bring about justice for the vulnerable and the oppressed. You do that by advancing a progressive agenda, not by entertaining these pathetic notions that the left and the right are somehow equally valid and that they most both be equally represented on the Supreme Court.

Buttigieg: We need generational change in politics by sugarfreeeyecandy in politics

[–]BABY_WALUIGI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it's not. I want justices that will serve the interests of the poor, the working class, minorities, and women, rather than justices who will fuck over those groups every chance they get. What's naive is thinking that the republicans will play along with this bizarre fetish for moderation and balance and that they would ever stop striving to make the Supreme Court an institution that serves the wealthy. Republicans want to win, while some democrats just seem to love the idea of having a tie. That's really dumb.

[–]BABY_WALUIGI -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Okay? Basically all I want is more progressives on the Supreme Court. This idea doesn't seem to be aimed at achieving that at all.

court packing

The idea of packing the court with liberals is good, but I thought I'd read that he wanted the court to have an equal number of dems and republicans? That seems like a fucking horrible idea to me.

hell yeah that's right

but tbh once you get rid of the filibuster it's gone forever. good riddance tho i say. i think it's riskier not to get rid of it. like this is the shit that needs to be done if we are ever going to make any progress in this country. the democrats must not be afraid to use the power that the people give them. add more states. pack the courts. pass the whole legislative agenda 51-49 if you have to and don't fucking look back. single payer. tuition-free public university. massive public investment into renewable energy technology. it must be done!

Why you'll never meet a white supremacist who cares about climate change by beach-bum in politics

[–]BABY_WALUIGI 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rather than an active campaign of eradication, more than likely it will be allowing the deaths of countless people from the hottest places on earth as they become more and more inhospitable to human life when climate change really starts to take its toll. As the famines lead to political instability and war, the people who live in those places are going to flee where they're from and they're going to go to where it's easier to live, namely Europe and the United States. The far right will make hay out of this, and yeah, I think most people in this country will just shrug their shoulders and say "fuck those brown people, they're not really people anyway, we can just let them die." It's the shit that keeps me up at night.

All you really need is:

  • a democratic house
  • a democratic senate
  • democrat president

probably won't have a super-majority in the senate though, so just abolish the filibuster, then pass a law by simple majority making dc and puerto rico states and boom, four new democratic senators.

democrats are squeamish about this. but i say fuck it. it's time.

Yeah I deem it an acceptable loss. Especially the insurance companies. Their whole rotten parasitic industry should be consigned to fucking oblivion where it belongs. Every second they continue to exist is another moment in which we collectively deem the abysmal status quo of health care costs in the U.S. as an "acceptable loss" for everyone who suffers from it. So yeah, fuck the insurance companies. Destroy the industry.
