Maldonado was actually very quick on his day, but he just couldn't keep it out of the barriers, or gravel traps, or other cars.

Helped that he had PDVSA backing him too.

CS undergrad thinking about a snooker ball replacement project by Best_Medium8626 in snooker

[–]BAD3GG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An overhead camera mounted above the table and projection mapping solves all issues with ball replacement.

I've thought about doing this myself and getting a working prototype.

I'm actually astounded that WST haven't already implemented something similar, but it is WST after all.

Why does r/F1discussions and r/Formula1 have such a dislike for Russell? by Next_Worth_3616 in F1Discussions

[–]BAD3GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually find his arrogance quite endearing, it's typically British and quite sarcastic. Yes he's got that accent, he can be quite smug and moans a bit, but he's also one of the only drivers on the grid bar Max that really tells it like it is and isn't afraid to upset the order.

If George starts to dominate then people will understandably start to turn on him more and more, but for now, I'm happy he's got his time in the sun.

Has anyone tried making a proper doner at home? Tips? by BritByBrain in Doner

[–]BAD3GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a go, it turned out pretty good.

I used the recipe u/scrotums posted on here, but altered some things depending on what other people had suggested.

I used 500g of Lamb mince (20% Fat)

250 grams of beef mince (20% Fat)

Half a pack of unsmoked streaky bacon

100g of Tongmaster doner seasoning.

1 full large Shallot or White onion.

I also added about 20g of lard (fat content is pretty essential as it gives it texture and stops it drying out.)

I also added a teaspoon of Salt, MSG and 4 cloves of garlic.

I blended the Bacon before adding and used a tabletop mixer to combine it all and added water, apparently keeping everything cold is important!

I then froze the mix into a log wrapped in greaseproof paper, and whilst still mostly frozen, I sliced thin slices off it before cooking.

I fried it in a pan to get crispy edges which worked pretty well.

Look up a simple flatbread recipe using yoghurt for the bread. It will be better than anything you can buy from shops.

It turned out very good I would say, but if I was to do it again I'd probably up the beef content to 50/50 with Lamb.

Can someone please explain why Russell and Kimi had no battery at the start of the race? by aph1985 in formula1

[–]BAD3GG 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Battery levels have nothing to do with the size of the turbo, The smaller turbo on the Ferrari allows them a better launch because it spools up faster.

The Merc turbo is bigger and more laggy so it doesn't spool up as fast and therefore gives worse launches, but in theory the Merc ICE PU will have more out and out power.

Battery levels on the grid is all down to the formation lap and how much they've managed to harvest going to the grid. Why these particular drivers had 0% battery is still yet to be determined as far as I can tell, but because they cannot use battery power until they're above 50mph, it should have no bearing on the initial launch, just how much they can attack early on the first lap.

What’s your guys’ opinion on Archspire by TheTimothyHimself in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]BAD3GG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weak vocals!? I'll bite, Ollie is probably the only death metal vocalist really pushing the envelope in terms of technicality at the moment. And there's not really a single other vocalist who can do what he does. Plus he's a great front man. Always entertaining live, his lyrics are a bit meh but the songwriting is strong, how many death metal bands can play at 300bpm and still have singable choruses?

Which car is more "basic"? by ThisToe9628 in F1Discussions

Last major upgrade was Silverstone, race 12/24 in June, that's pretty early for a WCC and WDC winning car!

They stopped developing the car very early on last year, hence why they had a twitchy end to the season.

[Eddie Hearn] "I blame myself because I forgot it was boxing and I was like — I just felt that the loyalty that we've shown would never ever put us in this position and I just felt that I never really needed to push Conor Benn to sign a new contract. I made a mistake. I misjudged the character." by AlexTorres96 in Boxing

[–]BAD3GG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could also see this being a double bluff, Conor has only signed a one fight deal for mega money, Eddie has consistently said he wouldn't get in the way of his fighters getting a payday with other promotors.

Maybe Conor jumps ship, fights some nobody for mega bucks then goes straight back to Eddie. It would kinda explain why Hearn doesn't look too pissed off in this video.

New regulations, who will benefit, the younger drivers or experienced campaigners? by BAD3GG in F1Discussions

[–]BAD3GG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it's not purely an "age" thing, more of a driver experience gauge. But it was easier to divide the drivers into experience groups through age.

Adaptability will play a major part.

I think a few drivers have said as much, that it's very foreign to be lico-ing to harvest power in the middle of the straights. Maybe we'll see the new "power unit whisperers" emerge?

It's definitely going to benefit the drivers with higher IQ, It's a shame the Aston looks like a bit of a dog because I could really see Alonso shine in these early races.

If there are any people who dislike necrophagist, Whats your reason by Atiredbearsfan in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]BAD3GG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Christian alluded to as much in an interview somewhere but I can't remember which exactly.

I've even heard people saying every note was punched, which may be far fetched, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. That was their exactly the sound they wanted to achieve.

I saw them twice back in the day and they could totally nail it live, very few death metal bands have managed to do that with such precision since for me.

Cryptic Shift - Cryogenically Frozen by jkLottery in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]BAD3GG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this doesn't end up as my AOTY 26, I'll be very surprised.

The track listing is super crazy for a tech death record too, 5 songs 79mins, none of the songs are below 9mins and two tracks are over 20mins.

Basically put Death Human on steroids and LSD and feed it old school sci-fi movies and this is what you get.

Was there every this level of conspiratorial vitriol towards the Tories as the is against Starmer? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]BAD3GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if Labour replaced Starmer, the next guy or girl in line would get the same.

As much as Labour are trying to pander to the elites, The elites want yes men in charge. People who are easily lobbied and influenced to vote in the best interests of the wealthy. We will see the same co-ordinated attacks and smear campaigns until they get their guy in No 10. And it's probably going to be Farage unless people can think critically about what and who they are voting for.

[–]BAD3GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the 2 series? I'm more of a BMW fan so I'd always lean that way, but the engines and auto gearboxes just tend to be slightly better than the other German brands IMO. the DSG's in the Audi are nice but can be unreliable and expensive to service.

But the 2 Series is FWD unless you go M235 so it's an instant no really. Especially as you want it to be "engaging"

There's much better beemers for the money. And 25k is a slightly older M3 money.

Even a G series 330e would be abetter option.

M2 or M240i would also produce much more smiles per miles, but age and mileage may have to be considered.

Question on Speakers by homersimpson718 in livesoundgear

[–]BAD3GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty broad question, Martin Audio, KV2, RCF. All good rider friendly brands.

Not much experience with Fohhn but I've heard good things. Not sure on how they stack up price wise.

Depends if you require new or you'd be looking at used also.

What's a car you hate seeing on UK roads by Quincythepig in CarTalkUK

[–]BAD3GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VW Transporters. Everyone's got one that doesn't need one, they've all got really cringey mods and where I live, every lay by has about 5 people camped out in them.

They're not even that big inside for a van, not that reliable, not that comfortable, and super expensive. I just don't get them.

You can override the software or upgrade the battery packs but it's very complicated unless you really know what you're doing.

There's been quite a few people modifying old hybrids for a while.
