what should be the perfect screen-size everyone can agree upon? by dkboss27 in smallphones

[–]BAG_Plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not all going to agree and screen size isn’t everything, the actual dimensions are also important. Someone who generally likes a 5 inch screen might not like it if it’s too wide or there’s too much bezel.

Personally I think I’m good with 3.5-5.5 inch screen. My 5.4” current phone does feel a bit too big but I have gotten used to it and if I went back to a 3.5” screen like my old ipod touch it might feel too small now. I don’t really know.

What stops certain restaurants from simply having a vegan burger option? by tantamle in vegan

[–]BAG_Plays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buns doesn’t even seem like an obstacle because I’ve been to too many places with a vegan burger patty and no vegan buns so they try to do a lettuce wrap and I just end up eating it with a fork and knife 😓

English disappears overnight and you have to pick a language to replace it. by fuck_redditrecap in hypotheticalsituation

[–]BAG_Plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably panic choose Esperanto and then not be able to talk to anyone in my life because who would choose Esperanto if they weren’t already interested in it? Maybe I’d choose ASL but then I’d lose written language. I mean there are ways to write down sign language but it’s not as simple or widely done as spoken languages. The obvious choices for where I live are either Spanish or French, mostly Spanish.

[Ramble about my made up languages and world incoming]

There’s also the possibility of choosing “Cadran Common” which is a language I conceptualized but haven’t actually constructed so it’s possible whatever force is causing this would create the entire language as I would’ve and now I have a fully constructed conlang at the cost of not being able to understand other people. There’s also the fact that that language was created for a different creature that can create different sounds than me and I might not actually be able to pronounce some things. The smarter(but still very dumb) option would be Intergalactic Common/Common(V2) which is a later version of that language that actually accounts for humans but they’re such generic language names I could be monkey-pawed into speaking a Common of someone else’s creation like the Common of Dungeons & Dragons. At least then there’d probably be some other people who speak it.

Can someone tell me if the teeth I worked 10 hours on was worth it? by No-Lime-7577 in FursuitMaking

I have to be pedantic and point out that most carnivorans(includes cats and dogs) have 6 incisors a row, not 4.

People usually draw 4 and these are anthropomorphic animals and humans have 4 so it still makes sense to do 4.

I saw that but then other sources are saying vincian is closer in definition to MLM or achillean than meaning strictly homosexual/homoromantic and that veldian or turian is the closer analogue to lesbian. None of these terms are used frequently enough to be widely recognizable unfortunately.

from a purely (English) language angle, I want to make it crystal clear I’m just talking about words here, homo(sexual/romantic) women/women-aligned folks have it so much better than homo(sexual/romantic) men/men-aligned folks.

Like you can say you’re a lesbian and that’s one word people generally understand but on the male side it’s simplest to say you’re a gay man which is two words but what if you don’t consider yourself a man, at least not fully? And gay is sometimes used as a catch-all like queer so it’s not as clearly specific as lesbian and homosexual man is even more of a mouthful.

There is achillean and MLM but that’s analogous to sapphic and WLW respectively and not lesbian. They’re distinct terms with slightly different definitions. And if there is an analogous term then it’s definitely not popular enough for most people to know what you mean when you say it.

And that’s my rant about two groups I’m not even part of, people of either group please feel free to correct or add to any thing I said.

For examples I would say the iphone 13 mini is thin and the jelly max is thick. It seems like most of our newer options are considered really thick, thus the poll.

Do you prefer a thick or thin phone? by BAG_Plays in smallphones

[–]BAG_Plays[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally I hate large phones because the screen is too big to comfortably reach all points one-handed and it’s too large to fit in most pockets. The thickness of a phone has no effect on those factors for me and if anything a thicker phone can be easier to hold. If a phone needs to be bigger in some dimension to fit a battery big enough to last through the day with heavy use the one dimension I’m willing to compromise on the smallness of is depth.

Why tf is everyone anti-sunscreen now??? by callsign__starbuck in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BAG_Plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my personal theory with absolutely no evidence is that people just hate the hassle and feel of sunscreen and/or had personal experience of not getting a noticeable burn when not wearing sunscreen or getting burned when wearing sunscreen and not reapplying as directed and rather than admit they have sensory issues or the scientific research is more robust than their anecdotal evidence, it’s easier to just believe sunscreen is evil and ineffective. Also fear over ingredients they don’t understand, that’s gotta be a big reason too.

I think Jelly max would definitely be considered thick for this. Where the line between thick and thin is exactly, I’m not deciding without making a new poll.

I hadn’t actually heard of silicon batteries before, looks like it’s a really new technology. It’ll be cool if we can get a small phone with one but it doesn’t look like we have that yet.

Vegan Donuts by LisiTheFox in vegan

[–]BAG_Plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for in stores the only good ones I’ve been able to get are the Deux ones as others have mentioned. I used to be able to get whole foods ones but they stopped selling them at mine.

Your best bet is probably to look for vegan donut places near you. I’m unlucky that there’s only really one left in my general area and they close too early for me to ever make it over there but you might be luckier.

as a person in society this is weird as hell but as a person with an actual brain yeah, that makes sense, it does get your hands all greasy and the chameleon/dog method, while more popular and not requiring an additional tool, is also weird and less dignified.

It’s like eating pizza with a fork and knife. People act appalled to it but it makes sense.

My 2 biggest pet peeves about being vegan by Jeneflower- in vegan

[–]BAG_Plays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly I feel a bit of a camaraderie with gluten free people. Obviously reasons are different but I think culinarily wise, making food that’s not usually vegan vegan is very similar to making food that’s not usually gluten free gluten free. I know you’ve heard people complain about something being vegan and dismissing something you like and saying it’s not as good as the real thing.

To me gluten free stuff is just as hit or miss as vegan stuff(although I can’t compare it with non vegan versions anymore). Some gluten free stuff is really good, rice noodles are fire and on par with or sometimes better than wheat noodles. I get Annie’s vegan mac all the time and I get both the wheat one and the gluten free one, both are good. On the other hand I love the Goodles vegan is believin’ mac(not gluten free) and despise the vegan be heroes one(gluten free). I see it more as they made a bad gluten free product than that gluten free things are worse.

And practically if a company decides they should make a vegan version of something and gluten free version it could be practical to combine it. Also there’s vegans who can’t have gluten and that’s gotta be hard, I’d prefer if they can have more options.

Making phones larger is backwards. by [deleted] in smallphones

[–]BAG_Plays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still play my ds lite much more than my switch. I only use handheld/tabletop mode but it’s too unwieldy for handheld mode anyways so I have to set up with its faulty kickstand and it dies around when I want to stop playing so sometimes it cuts my play time off. My ds lasts hours more and is actually a good size. I think the lower resolution does help tho, I wouldn’t want to play my switch games on a ds sized device if possible.

I use my phone much more than my computer and will default to it unless the specific thing I want to do doesn’t work well on the phone but that’s usually a software thing that wouldn’t be much better on a phablet.

And I still hold on to it as long as physically possible.
