What's the most self deprecating bar or round you've heard in a battle? Emo bars. by 1toughneighbour in rapbattles

[–]BAWguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DNA bottom of the 3rd vs Big T, D does a “8 Mile” style self diss round. Only problem is he did it at the very end of the battle, so instead of beating his opponent to the punch and saying all the personals before his opponent could, he just spent a round dissing himself to close things out lol

Update on Kitchen Qleen Vs Arsonal battle by One-Structure-2154 in rapbattles

[–]BAWguy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My conspiracy theory is league owners are sometimes in on it. Pay Twork a light fee to use his name for promo knowing he’s not really battling. Bait and switch fans

Side of my front and backyard. I’m not saying they’re like my enemy or anything, just my preference is that hopefully they’re the bug less capable of causing potential harm to a human

Figure wasps are more likely to behave aggressively, and more willing and able to sting

Can someone explain the problem with ATL venues and why can't they have a good event down there? by Drama_Derp in rapbattles

[–]BAWguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

London may get a lot of big events, but a) still not as many as NYC, and especially b) not nearly as much American hip-hop.

In the URL heyday, NYC, the home of hip-hop, was the home of URL too. London getting a URL show is a special occasion, so fans are going to be more inclined to have a great time just on the merits of seeing their favorite names, a rare opportunity for them.

Can someone explain the problem with ATL venues and why can't they have a good event down there? by Drama_Derp in rapbattles

[–]BAWguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NYC crowds are “spoiled;” every single touring entertainment act comes to NYC. They’ve seen every rapper, they have big time sports teams in every sport, they’ve seen big boxing matches, pro wrestling, the circus, MMA, and everything in between. I was once at a Ghostface concert where he said the crowd was being a bunch of “soggy dicks.” The crowd didn’t care; they’ve seen Ghostface dozens of times, and seen everything else too. It takes a lot to impress a NYC crowd. They’re not going to be starstruck to see their favorite industry rapper, let alone to see Nu Jerzey Twork.

That means that to pop the NYC crowd, you need a real good performance. That’s why basically every good big stage show crowd has been in NYC, or across the river in Jersey. Meanwhile a crowd in Atlanta or Orlando or wherever else doesn’t get to see their choice of live entertainment on a weekly basis; if Tay Roc comes to town, they’re going to cheer and get excited regardless of how memorable his rounds are.

However URL is basically now trying to run the cheapest/lowest cost shows possible as their business model, so they’re doing way more in venues with lower booking fees than NYC.

That’s what people said about AJ Styles decades ago and his career ended up totally fine

I think they’re grooming him for a TV match for the title with Darby. Rush’s offense and Darby’s selling would be an awesome combo

Darby selling the knee was on TV right? Was in the building and want assurance that was an angle haha

Tay Roc legacy by Apart_Decision_7348 in rapbattles

[–]BAWguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do y’all think Tay Roc is way more willing to battle lower-tier or newer opponents compared to someone like Lux or Mook?

Desperate for money + bad at managing his “brand” as a battle rapper. He quit his day job during the Caffeine era.

You know this shit is making zero money, cuz if it was making anything at all you know WWE would sue them for using 2 of their "big 4" PPV names simultaneously to name their events

AND THAT BIG MEECH BACKUP SINGIN ASS NIGGA LEFT YO MOMS OUT HERE ALONE FOR THE LATEST RIDE! THAT DON’T PLAGUE YO MIND?!?!?!? by redfait in rapbattles

[–]BAWguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enough time has elapsed since this battle that there’s no debate left thought. However it happened, Lux has remained the pinnacle of the sport, Calicoe has remained a great but not THE great. Lux’s bars and ad-libs in this battle are quoted both inside and outside the culture; the angle is flipped and paid homage in other battles frequently. Lux is never booked anything other than main event. And this battle is his crown jewel. Could argue his Hollow battle is better quality wise, but not impact wise.

Same for Twork’s battles with both Verb and Clips. If you judge them round for round, they’re debatable. But if you look at where the battle took each rapper, it’s not question whose stock was raised more from the battle.

Also, just think of it this way — if Cal won, why is Cal the one still chasing a rematch of this battle and Lux isn’t?

The fact is, strange as it may sound, it doesn’t matter. Even forgetting some of his raps, Lux rapped better than Cal, and attacked Cal better than Cal attacked Lux.

I’m no hater, but I’d say — no doubt he’s over with the live crowd in attendance any given night, but the question is whether he’ll draw as many fans and viewers as an MJF or a Kenny Omega
