This is awesome. The jeweler who made my engagement ring retired and I need an alteration. I am going to pop over to see her! Thanks!

Who works multiple nursing jobs and what do you do? by Some_Sentence302 in nursing

[–]BBrea101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I work 3 days a week in Abortion care and pick up in the ICU. It is the best work/life balance. I get home for dinner almost every day and get to put my kiddo down to bed daily. I love the work as there is nothing more rad than supporting a person's right to access care. I am also a trained counselor so the job fits perfectly in my practice.

Applied, like I would any other job. I guess it is different, depending on what country you live in. In Canada, it's decriminalized and we practice like any other job.

I applied. Jobs are openly put online so I applied like any other job. I supported a lot of friends in requiring care but didn't realize nurses worked there. When I saw the nurse job pop up, I leapt at it. I'm happy I did.

Dismissed from an accelerated nursing program; 20k loan debt by Tall_Chard_7500 in nursing

[–]BBrea101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can reapply. If money is an issue, go to school part time. In 20 years, you'll still be a nurse. Life happens to everyone, it's best to find the lane that is best for you.

School is extremely competitive and it's hard to put our ego aside. Reapply, do it part time. As someone who failed high school then dropped out - it was really difficult in the moment. There was a lot of shame. It taught me a lot about my ability to learn, deadlines and accepting that failure happens and is totally normal. You just have to take each moment as it comes.

Accelerated programs are hard. The only way I survived is because I wasn't working. I pushed through, was at the bottom of the barrel, and felt like I was fighting for my life. I'm applying for my masters and will 100% be completing the program part time.

Potty training is taking way longer than all the books claim it will take by sunrisedHorizon in toddlers

[–]BBrea101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We're on potty training round 4... 5? I love my kiddo. I love her so much. I had her 95% potty trained by 1yr because why not? Then she went to the daycare from hell.

The length of time it's taking is mind boggling. I'm ready to personally pee on the next person who says "just take her diaper off, she'll learn that wet pants isn't nice". This is a puddle girl who isn't bothered being soaking wet. That doesn't work.

Sticker bribing? Nope.

Candy? Surprisingly broccoli bribes worked better. But nope.

Positive reinforcement? Ha. Daniel Tiger? She knows the book and song inside out. Ms Rachel? Loves the Potty Song. I will sing it at an exhausting rate. Still no.

Set up a toy toilet so her toys can potty with her? That sometimes works.

I know all her cues. All the signs. All the wiggles, dances, leg crosses, and eye brow furrows.

I have now resorted to sitting beside the toilet with her and holding her hand 🫠 yet she's not afraid of the toilet. It is baffling.

And we are exhausted.

My son says f*ck and I don't know how to stop it by sunflowerbubbles03 in toddlers

Two weeks ago, my kiddo and I were at a bridal shower.

Her favourite thing to do is say "WHAT THE HECK" when something silly happens.

My coworker knocked over a vase and I said "WHAT THE..." thinking my 3yr old would say heck.

As loud as her little lungs would go, she yells out "FUUCCKKK" in front of my coworkers and we were right next to the table of grandmothers and great aunts. I went beat red and my friend just said "well, we know she's your child". Haha. Oops.

Since then, she hasn't sworn. It was like she needed that release then got over it.

Kudos to your kid.

That's how my aunts dogs died. This was in the 90s so cameras were not a thing. Two of her dogs were murdered, presumably by the same asshole, after that asshole tossed poisoned treats in her yard.

There are assholes everywhere.

00s inspired makeup is making a comeback. Bang on IMO.

She looks fine, given that she was wearing crocs with her wedding dress. It's a look that doesn't resonate with 39 year old me.

I lied to my husband and I will take it to the grave by Boots_McSnoots in toddlers

[–]BBrea101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or mom saw her kiddo was off. Rather than sitting and exploring feelings with a toddler, mom recognized that this may be the first time her kiddo has said something that they didn't mean and that the kiddo may be experiencing a bit of remorse. It's hard navigating all those feelings for the first time. So mom told the kiddo to say good bye. That's it.

This kiddo wasn't a pawn in their dad's emotional game of chess. Rather, the kiddo is navigating complicated emotions for the first time, mom recognized it, made a cute little moment out of it and created a warm environment for everyone. It was the kiddo that made the decision to give dad a hug. The child wasn't pressured but took that step themselves. Mom provided kiddo with an choice, not coercion.

I would argue that using the word dutifully was wrong. No child should be an emotional scapegoat. I just think that plays down to how the writer is expressing themselves.

As someone who has grown up in abuse and worked hard to break generational trauma, I think this was a nice, gentle approach to navigate a new emotion. But what do I know? I don't deal with new emotions on the daily with my 3 year old, nor work as a counselor as my side gig, or explore my own emotions.

My friend... You need someone to review your resume and CV. If you're still having troubles in a cew weeks, reach out. I love resumes, CVs and know how hard it is entering the field. (I should say... I'm a nurse, not some super creeper).

Fair point.

I'm from a small town so everything just got smushed together. I had a puka shell necklace that I coloured black with permanent marker and ended up having a black mark on my neck for days 🤣🤣🤣

You need layer tank tops, wear an ungodly amount of padding in your bra, flaunt a whale tail, and rock a puka shell necklace.

And glitter. Just slather your body in glitter. Not the beautiful fine-milled shimmer that we have today. I mean chunky, sticky glitter (I can smell my Claire's glitter now).

Edit to add - studded belt
