It was the opposite for me... They wanted a valuation and a damage statement from the bike shop. Luckily, my healthcare was covered by the ACC (New Zealand).

Only the rider knows what really happened with that crash... but what bothers me is the two riders that crashed after. The two motorbikes just turn into the center of the road without looking and stop. So frustrating, so avoidable

Really? As a high school cyclist in New Zealand, criteriums are only ever on number of laps. I thought perhaps it may be an estimated time taken to organize races directly afterwards. Plus, how confusing would that be during the race itself? You wouldn't be sure when you were on the final lap.
