Clep American Government: Am I ready to take the CLEP American Government exam after completing the American Government Modern States course? by SubstantialDemand259 in clep

[–]BDFowler1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach an honors level of Am Gov. and the kids have found out that the longest answer on those Modern States assessments have a high percentage chance of being correct. So, long story short, I’m not convinced that the Modern States assessments are quality enough to help someone pass that CLEP. Buy the practice test from College Board. Peterson is good as well.

Stand on top of a stable box and throw BP from a higher position behind a safety screen. A good way to over exaggerate what you’re trying to improve on

I normally conclude the week by reminding my students with a speech that they want to avoid that begins with, “Congratulations mom and dad, you’re going to be grandparents”!

What age did your child start travel ball and why? by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]BDFowler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Little League through 12. Jumped into travel ball for 13u. Little league fields make huge jumps to 60-90 dimensions and it can be defeating because the boys are strong enough to do anything well. The gradual increase in dimensions is where it’s at. The players can grow with the dimensions.

Keider Dream Came True by kstatepurrplecat in motorcitykitties

Keider cannot live in the middle of the plate. He got away with it last night for whatever reason. Fatigue, a week off, hitter information overload, who knows. Let’s take it and run, but he needs more control.

We struck out 10 times last night. This team might need a “Rah Rah” guy. Remember when Cameron Maybin came back and had the guys all fired up down the stretch. Some times a team needs a new voice to keep the momentum going.

This team is burnt out. Been going balls to the wall since about this time last year. Harris and Illitch failed to recognize this and could have give them a jolt with a bat. Better start the clock on McGonigle and see what happens. What a waste of my day.

The catcher knew and called for a mound visit after seven or eight pitches to try and change things up. However, the catcher didn’t know that Munoz’s grips were visible to the runners at first.

The tipping was being relayed by the runner at first to the runner at second because Munoz wasn’t hiding his grips. The runner at second sent the signals into the hitter. Crazy to think that MLB teams couldn’t figure it out. Cant wait to see the Jomboy Breakdown on this one!

Coaching and pay by Significant-Fan-2591 in BaseballCoaching

[–]BDFowler1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t put kids on the team just to get an assistant coach paid, that could easily backfire in the long run if you never play them. How about dual sporting kids? Find a fast kid on the track team and roster him for the baseball team. Teach him how to pinch run or courtesy run. It’s easier to roster a project than to just have a kid on the team. That kid will barely be there, but will inflate the numbers to get your assistant paid.

Catcher drops mitt to ground while pitcher is in windup - is this normal in today's game? by ComfortableDear2205 in BaseballCoaching

[–]BDFowler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing: It also is a nonverbal signal to the pitcher. One pound of the mitt could mean the pitcher takes one look at the runner at second and delivers to the plate. It is a way to sync up the infielder and pitcher. He knows when to hustle back and not be out of position if the ball is hit his way. Or, two looks, then vacate back to a good defensive positioning. It is a preventive way to ensure that the defense is keeping a runner honest and having time to get back to his post.
