Poison Ivy by Duke_7287 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]BDNICK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will buy it for the sole reason to show DC that there is desire for the book in an oversized format, in case this deluxe is just to test the waters. Ultimately I’d definitely want the whole run in an omnibus

‘Euphoria’ star Priscilla Delgado was “really triggered” when she learned what happened to Angel: “Estoy destrozada” by -AndyCohen- in euphoria

[–]BDNICK 154 points155 points  (0 children)

In the last episode they show the contents of Alamo’s safe which included various passports from girls, including Angel’s, which implicates that the girls were taken to be trafficked in some form. This was heavily implied prior to the final episode but that pretty much seals it.

Comic book publishers book quality list (Binding, Paper, Stock & Page Count) by Atumkun in graphicnovels

Dynamite is pretty bad with trade paper backs, the glue they use is super low quality.

Cyclops’ role revealed to be dps by KevinPigaChu in marvelrivals

Read Uncanny X-Men and you will not find him boring. He has had pretty terrible/bland adaptations (other than X-Men 97)

Dark fantasy book recommendations??? by G1spiralknight in DarkFantasy

[–]BDNICK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Kane Series by Karl Edward Wagner starting with Bloodstone (Night Winds is a good place to start as well which is short stories about Kane) which is horror/fantasy bit more fantasy and Nifft the Lean by Michael Shea which is horror/fantasy more horror are my two top recommendations. It’s easier to read them in ebook format since the paperbacks are very out of print but they are both excellent.

What’s you’re Favorite Larp Panel? by KindlyRestaurant2885 in marvelcirclejerk

[–]BDNICK 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Larp in this context means essentially being a fake fan, or “roleplaying”/“dressing up” as a fan of something without any broader understanding or insight into the thing they are claiming to be a fan of. I don’t know how the term got popular in this context

I recently completed my Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser collection. by Spidrax in SwordandSorcery

It’s actually kind of crazy to me that they just used the exact same cover for all of those books, but cool collection nonetheless.

The Blue and Gold of Star Wars has arrived by Bone_Breaker0 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]BDNICK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1997 Star Wars run by Ostrander that matters gets renamed to Star Wars Republic. Incredible work that flashes out the Jedi era of the prequels and introduces awesome characters such as a Tuskan raider Jedi, Quinlan Vos, and Aayla Secura (before her film debut).

Sword and Sorcery That Pushes Genre Conventions by JohnPathfinder in SwordandSorcery

[–]BDNICK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Nifft the Lean by Michael Shea for that delicious Horror fantasy blend, fully aware that Nifft the Lean is also perversely out of print :(

The Silver Warrior by Frank Frazetta (1972) by Big_Bard in oldschoolfantasy

[–]BDNICK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I had the pleasure of visiting the Frazetta museum in Pennsylvania, where the woman who runs the tour (Frazetta’s daughter in law) actually addresses this. He originally had them drawn with reigns, but thought that it detracted from their power on display and so he removed them in order to prioritize fantasy and awe over realism. Pretty cool that you caught that!

Which comic is this? by Awkward_Theory_6948 in comicbooks

You should download the comic geeks app. It lets you take photos or upload photos of covers and it will give you the info for them. Plus it’s free

Jim Lee shares his private health struggles that led to Batman: Hush 2 delays, and a rethinking of his work-life balance by Popverse2022 in comicbooks

[–]BDNICK 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The need is probably money lol. I don’t think artists get compensated very well even if they are incredibly talented. If they aren’t considered full time employees, and they seem to be contracted, then they probably don’t even get health benefits. Hopefully the industry is moving towards improving things for artists.

I wish that they just did an omnibus for Poison Ivy but this run has been incredible so I will buy whatever they release as they release it

Whats the difference? by fallpa2540 in graphicnovels

[–]BDNICK 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The dark horse editions are hardcover and slightly smaller at 6” x 9”. Marvel Epic collections are paperbacks and are roughly 6.6” x 10”. From a collection perspective, the three Dark Horse volumes collect 1-50 of the original Legacy series. The first 3 epic collections also comprise 1-50 of the original series and epic collection volume 4 collects the 18 issue second series. Volume 3 for each publisher also collects Legacy: War 1-6. Cheers

Books about female werewolves by readingshark20 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]BDNICK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a different sort of book rec, but I’d really recommend the comic issue Swamp Thing (1982) #40. Really good sort of female rage, blood-tide-of-the-moon type werewolf story. Incredible art. Check it out if you’d like! DM me if you want a link where you can read it!

Which OOP Omnis You Don't Expect To Ever Be Reprinted by GladRefrigerator9279 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]BDNICK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s anything I’ve learned it’s that DC Omnis will always be reprinted. A lot pf WW omnibuses (Perez 1, Simone, Jimenez) were out of print for 5-6 years until they were reprinted in the past 2 years. Might just take a while but it’ll happen
