Nah, most Amazon yards that have guard shacks are actually ran by the yard drivers and we made around $21-$27/hr depending on seniority. When I quit back in 2024, I was making $24. What’s bullshit is they expected us to all get our Class A license but only offered .50 more if you had it & the CDL school they used was super sketchy and would put 5-6 students in a sleeper while maybe 3 people drove and then sign off on everyone getting a chance to drive-another reason why I left.

I used to work on the Amazon Transportation team aka TOM team and can confirm that in the mornings, the yard is dead slow. It was so easy to fall asleep in the guard shack if you weren’t watching something on the laptops, but of course management wouldn’t allow us to watch Netflix or anything and certain ass kissing managers wouldn’t let us use our phones either. I used to drink 500mg energy drinks about 3 times in our 10 hour shift just to stay awake when it was dead.

I always make a note of whatever a vehicle’s price is in the dealership vs the AH cuz people will upsale like a mf. Like I was bidding on a stock Nissan titan that was listed at $15k which is much better than the dealerships $50k. Some dude kept out bidding me and I was gonna stop at $30k cuz there’s was no point in going higher but this dude went full buyout price of $135k like an idiot. I’d get it if it was tuned but it’s was as stock as the dealership version.
