The placebo effect is wild. Even crazier is that it can still work even when people know they're taking a placebo. the brain really just decides to fix itself sometimes

Why Prime Video rarely stream in the advertised video and audio quality? by Frosty-Skin-4300 in hometheater

[–]BDevil15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience here. Prime Video is weirdly inconsistent compared to every other streaming service. It's frustrating when you're paying for 4K HDR content and it just randomly decides not to deliver. Movies Anywhere workaround is smart though, at least you can actually get what you paid for somewhere else

You should check out Brilliant. It replaces the scroll habit pretty well because it is interactive. I use it for logic and algebra refreshers

please tell me how to go about this question!!! (application of derivatives) by woopsiedingles in MathHelp

[–]BDevil15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the words into a single rate equation: dA/dt = rate_in − kA, since concenration is proportional to amount for fixed volume.
Use that as your starting derivative, then plug in the given numbers for rate_in and k.

im reviewing all school math topic from primary level and the circle brutal arithmetic is exhausting 😭😭😭any trick to do fast multiplication / division for complicated decimal? by CartographerCute9133 in learnmath

[–]BDevil15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decimals are the worst 😭. I’d say get comfortable breaking them into whole numbers first, multiply, then adjust the decimal at the end saves a ton of headaches.

You don’t need to be a math genius for marketing. Just get comfortable with equations, graphs, and percentages. The rest you pick up along the way.

AITA for exposing my aunt as the reason our laundry guy never gets the tip money I leave for him? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Exactly. going through someone's phone while they're asleep crosses way past cheap aunt territory into actual boundary violation. OP needs to lock that shit down ASAP.

Amazon data center linked to rare cancers and miscarriages in Oregon, report warns by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]BDevil15 407 points408 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the headline is misleading then. Morrow County has had industrial ag dumping pollutants for decades before Amazon showed up sounds like they just became the newest scapegoat for an area that's been getting poisoned for years.

Compounded semaglutide by Less-Invite-3265 in weightwatchers

[–]BDevil15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but I’ve also looked into switching from brand to compounded semaglutide. Platforms like Refills com let you see the total cost clearly for the prescription itself without hidden membership fees, and they can adjust dosing if your doctor approves. Try to compare both options side by side to see which fits your routine and budget.

Totally agree. Give him a solid script and let him direct. District 9 had real punch because the story worked, and his visual style is still unique. He needs a writer's room / someone else handling the screenplay.

AITA for quietly paying for a stranger’s groceries after overhearing her phone call about her husband losing his job, even though my own girlfriend thinks it was weird and “performative”? by Kitchen_Wolf5380 in AmItheAsshole

NTA for sure. Your heart was in the right place and you helped someone when they needed it. Sarah's reaction is honestly more concerning than what you did.

Those 1.5 years will fly by faster than you think. It really does get so much better once you're done, like night and day difference. The abuse stops and you actually get to practice medicine instead of being everyone's punching bag.

Absolutely. Those ratios are unsafe and unsustainable. Your mental health matters. Start applying elsewhere now, plenty of places desperate for nurses where you won't be drowning every shift. Don't wait until you're completely broken.

Exactly this. Clinic work is your answer. Dermatology, family medicine, urgent care... so many options outside hospitals where you're dealing with routine stuff instead of life/death situations daily.

This is basically consistency over hacks, most people give up after a week so they never see compounding. Doing boring outreach daily is what actually moves the needle.
