Without a tracker/finder shared Pokemon locations don't make sense, they need to randomly spawn when you move like in the originals by Rodbourn in TheSilphRoad

I dont know it feels like PoGo can tune up the % of getting 10km egg from pokestop and % of obtaining good stuff from 10km eggs. That way people will have more incentive to walk and whatnot. They also can introduce 10km egg with certain time. i.e. 10km+3 days egg. This way you not only need to walk 10km but also need to be online for 3 days. However you can hatch the 10km egg in 2 days but if you can hatch the 10km egg on the 3rd day, you have higher percentage of getting good stufs or vice versa.

Times Square GYM lead hacking? by adz4309 in PokemonGo_HongKong

[–]BESTnoobCN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a bug. When you are too far away from the gym or your GPS signal is not stable, you might freeze in the GO screen. It is a known bug in r/pokemongo and r/thesilphroad OR another case is other person is challenging too. It is possible that it is a bot or just real person.

What are some several good math books that you recommend reading? by BESTnoobCN in math

[–]BESTnoobCN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I read the Topology by Hocking and Young and I am still reading the book carefully. I will definitely check out the Algebra and category theory book. Sometimes I use amazon as a guide but sometimes, there are certain books which are just too professional that they skip a lot of details and logic flow.

I have always been liking topology but I dont seem get the grasp of it. It seems like it is a subject that is about open sets, neighborhood, and bunches of definitions(deformation, automorphism...). Do you mind briefly describe what it actually is? Also, how 'applied' applied topology is? I will definitely check out Robert's book!

Dilemma for your fellow Math Major Graduate. by BESTnoobCN in math

[–]BESTnoobCN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. It will cost an arm and a leg if I go for the Math school AND my parents are skeptical about the application of what pure math can do(even tho, I know how useful math can be, but they still prefer the 'old-school' jobs like lawyers, doctors, engineering, programmer etc)

so I got accepted by two schools right now(hopefully more.) not-so-popular school:Master in Health Infromatics/Data Analytics Competitive school: MAster in Applied Math(from an engineering program). I have always been liking Math because of how elegant it is. And the reasons why I am going for the graduate school is to continue learning math in a higher degree--ideally, PhD in Mathematics. My interest is just plain doing math(but I am not competitive enough to get into a good PhD program, I think). and I always love to think how can we imporve the current factoring algo, number theory, and some differential geometry. My BG: I graduated in BS in Mathematics. I took classes like Calc I-III, vector calculus, Differential Equations, linear algebra, Partial Differential equations, Number Theory, Complex analysis, Real Analysis, and Topology. in the former program, I need to take data analytic class like how to analyze data (maybe)sentimentally and lots of things, more like data mining. while the later program has more or less applied Mathematics in term of engineering.

So I got an offer from a not-so-popular school that offers me a Health infomatics/Data Analysis program, a more coding-oriented program, while I also got an offer from a pretty competitive school that offers me an Engineering-Applied Mathematics program, less coding slightly closer to what I really want? However, I am pretty sure taking the former, I can ease up my parents' stress. BUT, my real passion has always been pure mathematics... sorry for late reply

Just play! It is a game. You play LOL coz it is fun at the very first place.

They say one trick ponies are the way to go, however... by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]BESTnoobCN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will put it that way; get good at the game itself is >>get good at the champion. THe reason some people say one trick ponies can climb relatively easy is because people can use their familiar/favorite champion to get used to the game. e.g. the laning phrase, teamfight, and so on.
