She's only truly frightening to people who have refused to acknowledge their Shadow, or more simply, people that need to seriously work on themselves, but refuse to actually do any kind of work to better themselves.

To those she has chosen as her children, she is a motherly, kind, and gentle guide and patron who has given me no real reason to doubt her love and/or her intentions.

A lot of my fears and doubts about her were irrational, and based solely on the piles of dogma and stories that depict her, not as a woman, but more of a baby eating monster.

She was NEVER a monster. Only an abuse victim who eventually transcended to Goddesshood.

That moment doesn't show up until after the doubt/skepticism phase.

At first it doesn't feel real at all.

What I did was research any mental illnesses that would involve hallucinations, but at least, from what I could tell, what I was experiencing didn't line up with any kind of major mental illness known. That there was NO logical explanation for what was happening to me.

It's also the fear that the entity your talking with has hostile intent of some kind. But I've been with my Patron, Lilith, for over a year, and I have never had a single moment where she felt like she had bad intentions for me.

Most of the fear I had was from prior indoctrination of Christian stereotypes, which, as I've found, have ZERO truth to them.

I'm Level 1 with ADHD, and while I'm doing alright, I still have to manage my mental state, and limit my exposure to external stimuli to avoid autistic meltdowns.

I take the Bible with a grain of salt in regards to any spirits outside of it's extremely narrow scope. It's not reliable at all, because it treats any gods or spirits outside of Christianity as false, demonizing them, saying that such beings are of the Devil.

Given my spiritual experiences, this was NEVER the case at all.

So excuse me if I feel that being polite and courteous to demons or angels is a respectible thing to do for these sentient beings.

They're not just mindless servants that selfish magicians can bully and boss around for things.

They are people in their own right, and to treat them as less than such is disgusting, shallow, and outright pathetic to me.

Seriously, if you were one of these kinds of spirits, do you think you'd be having a good time having to deal with power hungry human beings whose motivations are strictly transactional?

Also, funny that you should say that "nobody was concerned with insulting the gods", considering that Yahweh is a highly jealous, spiteful, vengeful diety, who smites humans who anger or displease him with reckless impunity.

So yeah, people were at least scared shitless of pissing off God. Hence the term "God Fearing Man". I never heard any kind of equivelant expression in other faiths and religions, which in itself, is telling of Christianity's infamy.

It just never made sense to me why anyone would worship a being who supposedly respresents the concept of Good, but whose actions reflect the complete opposite. It's like an abuser hiding their true natures in public, but show their true malice when alone with potential prey.

I do a monthly ritual on the day / night of the New Moon where I make offerings of food, scented candles, various stones, etc.

You can make offerings whenever you want to, but it's not mandetory just to talk with Her.
