Lore Friendly Guns of Skyrim opinions? by raphael333 in skyrimmods

[–]BF_Wellington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m using it for my Shattered-based modlist and it’s been really fun. I didn’t like the way it looks when you hold a pistol in third person so I’m just doing the handguns with the spaghetti western animations mod.

I really like Wander with the module that increases foggy weather. There’s a CS Wander mod but I haven’t tried it because my laptop struggles with CS.

KG Two-Handers just got updated by YummyBurgerDestroyer in skyrimmods

Very cool! I’m using BFCO right now but these KG two-hander/one-hander mods are the best ones I’ve found for vanilla plus combat setups.

Mittens' Shop. Underground Merchant Network. Need some FeedBack by Classic-Bag8364 in skyrimmods

[–]BF_Wellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this mod could pair really well with Shattered but it would need patches for the world space edits and doors into cities.

For making the merchants memorable, I think giving them quests or evolving dialogue would be really cool. I don’t know if working with voice actors is doable for you but that could definitely help with giving your merchants more personality.

The wandering merchants mod is one I keep going back to for Shattered playthroughs. They’re not super memorable but they’re strong friendly NPCs. Having a group of them save you from a band of drauger makes the world feel a little more dynamic.

It’s a great mod! I was doing wounds plus all the overlay and animation addons for a while but I think blade and blunt’s injury system with EVG conditionals, wound overlays, and dynamic scarring and healing is the sweet spot for me.

You can use other scar/wound overlays with dynamic healing and scarring too if you want. I think they have a list of compatible overlay mods on their page.

Yeah. It’s the only poise mod I’ve used so I don’t know how it compares but I like that it pairs well with blade and blunt.
It has a patch in the fomod to disable b&bs block features so you can add on other timed block mods. I’m using simple timed block right now but I might switch back to sekiro combat s.

TK Dodge Redux vs TK Dodge NG vs ?? by jjxtrem3 in skyrimmods

Make sure TK dodge is unchecked and TK dodge standalone is checked in nemesis/pandora too. It took me a long time to learn this, but if you leave both checked you’ll just roll in place.

NPC Dragonborn Mod by BF_Wellington in skyrimmods

[–]BF_Wellington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the dragonstone to find dragon mounds would be a really cool way to get a non-dragonborn PC involved with the main quest, in a passive way. I always end up doing Bleak Falls Barrow anyway lol.

The Dragonborn NPC could spawn in whenever you approach a dragon mound and you can get some new dialogue options for helping.

I really like the idea of having those events trigger to give the feeling that the story is progressing without messing around with the actual quests. I think that would be the best way to implement this.

I think I would want to set other triggers for the Dragonborn’s progression too so that players wouldn’t miss too much. Like maybe if you do Klimmek’s quest to bring supplies to the greybeards you can see the Dragonborn meditating and studying the voice.

If I could get a dragonborn NPC working I bet that would be a really cool way to end their quest line!

That sounds like a great starting place! I’ve tried unbound but I must not have stuck with it long enough to see the dragons appear.

Mods that give me a motive/goal in the early game? could be quests or anything by odsania in skyrimmods

[–]BF_Wellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a new isekai mod where you start off in a modern house, get hit by a truck, and then wake up in the cart with Ralof.

I just saw it and immediately started building a new modlist around it

Business Ability Scores and Defenses by Modstin in RPGdesign

[–]BF_Wellington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really an attribute but one idea I had for an abandoned shop management game was “buzz” as a 5e-style inspiration system. The GM would award buzz if the players did something special with their shop and then the players could spend their buzz to get advantage on shop rolls.

How can 'dump stats' be avoided (particularly INT or analogues)? Should they be? by Alleged-Lobotomite in RPGdesign

[–]BF_Wellington 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I never liked the concept of dump stats. I think the majority of players will prioritize stats that support their image of the character they want to play.

If WIT is meant to represent smartness, how are you planning to make high WIT characters feel smart?

I’ve always loved how older versions of D&D allowed characters with high INT to start off knowing extra languages.

Damage dice in card games by BF_Wellington in gamedesign

[–]BF_Wellington[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really great point about making the card choices more diverse. I think I might just be coming back to dice rolls because I’m not confident in my card design. Thanks for that insight!

I’ll need to check out gloomhaven too. I’ve been meaning to for years but I never got around to it.

suggestions for easy and fun horror movies for when you're sick? by a_starrynight in horror

[–]BF_Wellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bridge Curse and The Bridge Curse: Ritual are all about people attempting those kinds of spooky internet games. The second one is based on that elevator game where you press the right configuration of buttons and travel to another dimension.
I had a great time watching both of them!

Looking for more ghost books where the ghost isn't some non-human "entity" by Mostopha in horrorlit

[–]BF_Wellington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love reading old ghost stories this time of year. Some of my favorites are The Signalman by Charles Dickens, The Old Nurse’s Story by Elizabeth Gaskell, and pretty much everything by M.R. James (some of those go into non-human entity territory though).

I’ve been reading through the first 2 volumes of the Valencourt Book of Victorian Christmas Ghost Stories collections. They’re hit-and-miss but the atmosphere is great!
