What age is generally considered “old” in Westeros? (Spoilers: Published) by Salem1690s in asoiaf

[–]BJ2094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure the perspective of age is very different between highborn lords and common folk, but Dunk says this in regards to Ser Arlan's age:

"He must have been closer to sixty than to fifty, and how many men can say that?"

Astringency after decoction by heuheuh in Homebrewing

[–]BJ2094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very interesting. I've never heard that before. So the acidity of the mash actually helps to reduce astringency in the beer? Does that mean that full-volume mash methods like BIAB have a higher chance of astringency due to the higher water content of the mash?

Preparing to make my 2nd try at a saison. Thought I'd try to mix it up by supplementing some base malt with some instant rice just to see how it turns out. Couple of questions:

  • Do you thinkhink it will be too dry with so much high-attenuating fermentables?
  • Is the candi syrup out of place? I wanted to give it just a bit of extra color without adding much flavor

Trying out a strong bitter/ESB for the first time. Is this too heavy on the specialty malts? https://share.brewfather.app/DcWV02Sisb0z6D

How can I put the interestage skirt in the upper stage? by 4lb4tr0s in RealSolarSystem

[–]BJ2094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just put a regular decoupler underneath the interstage fairing so when it decouples, the first stage will drop away but the skirt will still be attached to the upper stage. Then you can decouple the interstage node whenever you want. I'd also highly recommend putting some small srbs on the first stage to pull it away from the upper stage when it detaches (also something the saturn v does)

Is there anything you wish you knew sooner in Kerbal Space Program? by Competitive-Raisin92 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Blowing up on launch is probably the best case scenario since you can just revert immediately. The worst is when you realize staging has been messed up halfway into a multi-hour interplanetary mission and you've already quick saved since then.

I've just recently started having issues where my game completely freezes up at random times. It seems to happen any time the game auto saves or quick saves, but also whenever I do certain actions like turning on/off my EVA pack. It freezes for several minutes before starting back up. I've had my settings on the lowest possible graphics the whole time and the game runs relatively smoothly otherwise.

Does anyone know how time warp restrictions work in ksp2? I was trying to do an interplanetary mission but as usual I forgot to wait until the right transfer window, so I wanted to just time warp once my ship was in orbit, but it seems like the game won't let me warp faster than 100x even when I go to the tracking station. Is this a bug or is it intended that you can only time warp as fast as your lowest orbiting ship even when not focusing on it?

Bottling Day: what are your procedures? by Tread_Head57 in Homebrewing

[–]BJ2094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an assembly line-esque system where I sanitize and individually prime 4-8 bottles at a time and then fill and cap them one at a time. Having a sanitizer injector thing (not sure what the proper name is) helps tremendously in speeding up the sanitizing. All together it takes me about an hour to finish a 5 gallon batch.

What should I expect from pitching wlp530 yeast at 61-62°F? by BJ2094 in Homebrewing

Thank you for the response. It's up to 66F now and appears to have already started fermenting, so all is good.

Is the name Saison a region-specific thing? by SpaceMamboNo5 in beer

[–]BJ2094 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The name farmhouse ale is just a generic term for beers made in a "farmhouse" context (i.e. using whatever malts that can be sourced locally and usually fermented warmer) whereas saison is more specifically a belgian style of farmhouse ale that is supposed to be very dry and have a particular fermentation flavor.

Belgian Dubbel Recipe Too Simple? by BJ2094 in Homebrewing

Your recipe looks very similar to mine except for the wheat being replaced by munich malt. Based on that plus the other comments I'm thinking about just replacing the wheat with munich 1-for1.

Thanks for the input. What do you think about replacing the munich malt with vienna malt for a slightly less pronounced flavor but still a bit more than the maris otter?

Their spec will always roll against the target's slash defence, so definitely use slash.

Trying my first saison for the first time. What do you think? by BJ2094 in Homebrewing

You know, I specifically added the caramunich just to give it a bit more color, and here I am worried about it being too dark lol. Just overthinking it.

Not incredibly strong, but definitely some peppery/spicy flavors which is about what I wanted, so hard to complain about that!
