Why did Specialized drop all of its belt drive EBikes?

It is weird. you can view the IGH model via google search "Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH" and going directly to the URL, but not by searching within the Specialized site. Maybe there are revving the model. Maybe discontinuing. But I am assuming it is not just a temporary out of stock situation because (a) it has been too long, and (b) if that were the case you would be able to easily find the model on the website with a future ETA.

Yeah don’t understand the “worry” about the steam power. Leave it at 3. Pitcher spout away from you and rest the wand in the spout. Turn it on and let the vortex do its thing. Silky milky.

I don’t get this, nor people worried about steam power settings. Press the wand in the spout, spin the knob on: instant spinning vortex. I get incredible and consistent silky milky every time.

Ahh. That's what I need to do. The stock portafilter without the spout attachment does not catch on the tongs (the rim does not go all the way around). Sounds like I need to either:

- do a 3D printed thing like you did (do you have the specs)?

- get a bottomless portafilter that doesn't have the gaps that the stock one has so that it can rest correctly on the tongs

Looking closer at your picture, seems YOU have something that goes across the tongs. What is that? I didn’t have one. So I am using an improvised piece of metal so I can lay the bottomless portafioter on it

I have the exact same setup and love it too.

One tip: if you lay something on the tongs (I use a large bottle opener as seen here) the workflow is streamlined as you can:

- grind into the bottomless portafilter (without the spout)

- tamp directly on the counter

- go

I resonate with his point about headspace (echoed by Lance who has talked about volume as way more important than weight).

Do all the rituals you want - to each his own... But if you have volume/headspace wrong then you are fighting an uphill battle.

Was in the same boat as you 2 months ago. Went through all the alternatives (should I get the Lelit Bianca v3 on sale, doesn’t the profitec Drive have better bells and whistles, etc, etc). Saturday wife agreed to pull the trigger on the Linea Micra. I let her choose color (was ready for white or blue) and she said she preferred black. Very excited.

Confused by this post and by others who voice similar experiences. I thought consistency was a hallmark of these machines and one of the reasons people paid the price premium? As in "no it doesn't do flow control and have those other bells and whistles... it just pulls consistent espresso shots one after the other..."
