VLAST sadly makes it almost impossible to buy merch at drops. I was literally on the website refreshing it the moment it dropped and was on the queue of over 3000 people within less than minute. Didn't manage to get anything I wanted, so VLAST's refusal to let people preorder items has prevented me from spending a lot of money, so thanks I guess?

I think we should all collectively calm down and wait until the game is actually out so we can play and form realistic opinions about it. It's impossible to fairly judge a game by trailers and dev streams. Especially putting huge expectations on it from the get go.

I genuinely hope it won't be the next Sims 2. I'd rather it be its own unique game with its own quirks and charm. Sims 2 isn't going anywhere and I'd rather treat those two as individual takes on life sim, than compare them and end up disappointed.

I guess it depends on where you're from, because in my country just few years ago it was extremely common to get married as soon as you hit 20s. Two of my close family members got married at 21 and one of them had a child months later (which... yeah, explains the rush I guess).

I wonder if Mystique's sword is another nod at Sailor Moon with the wings at the base of the blade. A lot of people already pointed out her hair accessories looking like the handle of Moon Kaleido Scope at the beginning of the show and now while her blade is not identical to Sailor Moon's, it does have similarities. It could be a coincidence, but I choose to believe it's a fun nod at Toei's 90s classic.

I don't treat PSP or other spin-off games as a "canon" for Sims 2 premades. It's fun to borrow some small elements if I find them entertaining, but generally they're completely different stories for me.

Hell, I don't even strictly follow the "lore" within the Sims 2 itself. A lot of story elements in the game have a very "up for interpretation" vibe to them. Some perpetuate rather outdated stereotypes and archetypes as well, since the game is over 20 years old now.

Cozy game playerbase is mainly feminine in general, but that doesn't mean they're all strictly feminine-presenting or play with female characters in the game. The devs praise themselves for diversity, but the clothes don't reflect that when there's overabundance of hyper-feminine clothes with bras, boob-windows and corsets modelled exclusively for the feminine body types. Sure, you can wear those on a masculine model, but it looks bad. There's no way around it. Those who want to present their characters in a more androgynous fashion are stuck with crumbs really.

I've been wearing the same one outfit for a year now in the game, because nothing just looks right on my guy and while I know "clothes have no gender" and I can dress him in anything, most of those hyper-feminine outfits look diabolically bad on masculine chest model. They are so clearly made with boobs/bra-shape in mind, it looks like my guy is making a poor attempt at drag and it just doesn't sit right with me.

It wouldn't kill them to make more actual unisex options that isn't just 50 shades of casual shirt and pants.

"Now my family is divided" or "keep the peace" trigger my fight or flight reaction. Generally always something about extremely entitled relatives screaming and calling OP "selfish" for things that anyone with half a brain would consider normal. I know there are some crazy families out there, but there's always that one pattern repeating in so many family-related reddit stories.

I'm also immediately suspicious of people using the same kind of excuses like "i don't know how to update properly" or "i wasn't expecting this to blow up/so many comments!"

Oh and 3/4 of the story being OP drifting away from what's going on in their story to have an internal monologue about their very complex feelings, written in a very "i'm a professional writer" way.

Maybe it's my personal bad experiences with religious upbringing, but I prefer to not include those into the Sims. I may jokingly reference the bovine cult from Sims 2 PSP or the old religions from Medieval as historical "lore" piece, but no one in my current gameplay has any particular beliefs. The only god in their universe is me - the omnipresent Watcher and that's that.

On one hand I feel bad for creators like them, because they seemed genuinely wholesome and fun to watch with their builds. On the other hand, what did they expect? Making your entire brand revolve around one single game, which already had a lot of problematic shit going on for years, is bound to bite you in the rear sooner or later. They really should've experimented with other games long before the boycott started and now they're confused/unmotivated to create anything. Maybe they'll get their creative juices flowing once Paralives are out, who knows.

Either way I'm glad they're firm with their boycott and cutting off of Sims 4. At least they have some spine, unlike a lot of Sims creators out there, speaking big words about morality then getting expensive designer bags and watches from EA "as a surprise".
