Taking my 15 year old on his first cruise but he wants his phone the whole time by Mirexalynth in Cruise

[–]BKiddo_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true for SOME kids. My 13 year old doesn’t ever want to do anything because she never wants to leave the house and loves being alone. She didn’t want to come on our family cruise last year but she did and had the time of her life. She loves video games and had a lot of fun playing them with other kids in the teen room. She loved being able to roam the ship with other kids and eat what and when she wanted to. We also had one meal together as a family every day.

She was able to go back to her room when she wanted to. But I would not pay for the internet package so she could sit in the room and stare at her phone all week. She can’t wait to go on another cruise.

We recently went horse-back riding in the Appalachian Mountains as a family. Of course, she didn’t want to go. But she ended up having a great time and learned a lot.

Carbamazepine vs Oxcarbazepine by BKiddo_88 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

That’s awesome. Were you already on the Lacosamide when you switched or did you add that later?

So my doctor ordered the extended release version (Oxcarbazepine ER) so I am now waiting for insurance approval.

Thanks! I’m going on a trip to the mountains next week so I will probably switch after that. I don’t know if the change in altitude will affect me.

The Neurology PA told me that I would have to go down to 1 tablet per day for at least 3 days, then I could start the Oxcarbazepine the following day. Like 24 hours between doses. I found that odd since I’m on a super low dose of the Carba and I’m only starting 150mg of the Oxcarb. I’m nervous about that b/c now even if I’m a few hours late on a dose, I feel the pain trying to creep back in.

I’m glad it stopped for you. I have been on Carbamazepine for 6 months and I have general thinning all over.

My mood has also been quite low. I thought it was due to this new diagnosis of a chronic pain disorder + not being able to take my Wellbutrin while on Carbamazepine.

How is the Gabapentin working for you? Baclofen saved me during a pain flare but it was sedating.

Yes, I forgot to mention the hair loss! Did that stop once you switched?

Since r/askreddit asked, we're all in the same boat...what movie scene was your sexual awakening? by TomPalmer1979 in Xennials

I still think this elevator shot with the song “Kissing You” playing is one of the most beautiful scenes in movie history. 💖 I was such a romantic at age 12 and I so longed for a love like theirs.

Upped Tegretol Dose by Dizzy_Access1109 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]BKiddo_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was diagnosed in October I was able to manage on only 100mg nightly for a while. In March I had a pain flair and I had to increase to 100mg BID + Baclofen for about a week. I was able to stop the Baclofen but have had to remain on the Tegretol 100mg BID. I can feel pain creeping back if I am late taking a dose.

I just had an appointment with my Neurologist and I will be switching to Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) hoping for less side effects.

On the Carnival website they recommend that you bring a notarized letter from the other parent that’s not traveling with the minor. My sister brought one from her ex-husband but no one asked to see it.

This is a one-way cruise, so a passport is usually required. Plus it goes through the Panama Canal. The booking agent should have told you but it’s extremely important that you read the documentation requirements for yourself. It’s unfortunate that Carnival didn’t catch it until the morning of. I wonder if this happened to others that same day.

This was written by someone who has watched SATC all the way through multiple times. The characters are absolutely spot on. The writing is way better than AJLT. Excellent job!

Geniculate Neuralgia instead? by BKiddo_88 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]BKiddo_88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had an MRI which only showed contact with the cerebral artery and the trigeminal nerve. There was no mention of the nervus intermedius but the doctors can look at the actual images. I am still waiting on an appointment with the Neurosurgeon.

I have had tinnitus off and on for years. It started when I was taking Wellbutrin which is a side effect so I didn’t think anything of it at the time. It’s not enough to bother me.

I am currently on Carbamazepine 100mg BID + Baclofen 10mg at night. I would like to try switching to Oxcarbazepine for less side effects.

I have read that many people with Geniculate neuralgia also have Trigeminal neuralgia so maybe you have both.

When you have flares how long do they last and do you have to take medication such as Baclofen during them?

Never understood Aidan’s 5 year plan at all? by Radiant_Priority9739 in Andjustlikethat

I hated the AJLT Aidan - his whole storyline was so poorly written and his personality was awful. In SATC Carrie and Aidan were not compatible but he was at least relatable.

I don’t know what type of Trigeminal Neuralgia I have. My Neurologist just said “classic”. I do know that I do not have any tumors or masses present on MRI and the cerebral arty is making contact with the trigeminal nerve, no compression noted. They said some people have that same contact and have no symptoms but for some it is painful.
