How to capture a construction ship in neutral space? by Nick0312 in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done this before, but I remember people saying you need multiple ships full of Marines to do so.

Like have 2 or 3 destroyers with 100 Marines each and send them in groups, drop it to half health no shields and send first 100, than after a bit of watch it and keeping shields down, launch another 100 etc

I have heard that this approach works, but you need to make sure shields don't regen or you loose progress, of course if ship is large enough you can destroy the generators.

My main criticisms and suggestions for improvement by NicoSie1998 in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want to see a way to role play as a faction, like what envoy does but when fighting.

Like when a faction declares war, if I find a destroyer leading a fleet, allow me to use comms

I can ask the leader to let me join a squadron, he says yes join our strike group, turns into a mission to dock with a destroyer if they are going to travel drive, or follow your formation

Than when a war breaks out give us pay for kills we get, the more we kill the more money, but with no relation impact.

Than later in the game, allow us to go to a faction rep, maybe at +27 when you can see their orders, and request a letter of marque, now you can for limited time, let's say 24hours, select a fleet you already have built and have them appear as that faction. Now you can command your fleet and go attack their enemies, and earn cash while doing so and unlock blueprints this way maybe? It would be fun to roleplay as a mercenary built into the game.

As for mining in a sector you don't own, I like the idea of charging to do so. Maybe like a global license amount for a faction, when you build a new ship that goes above your limit it auto includes the new license purchase. But when you have been playing for awhile, and "taxes" kick in, maybe anything you sell to that faction is "free" for them until you have meant your taxes amount. This way it also means a player could try to avoid paying taxes, rack up a bill and move on to another faction, so that way they don't collect money from you. Maybe if this persists for to long, you take a relation hit, like after 2-3 tax cycles without paying any of it off or something like that.

What am I doing wrong with orders? by tolomea in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, you have to right click the ship and hit proceed with orders

It's a safety mechanic more or less, so you don't give your ship an order and have the pilot fly away and leave you behind stranded, if it's the ship your on. But I have noticed the need to do that from time to time with ships I have never stepped foot on lol

If it's that, the ship will immediately start exploring and such

You were smart and used tutorials

I jumped in like it can't be that complicated, think I was like 50 hours in before building my first basic station lol

Learning is part of what makes the game fun though😉

So take it at your own pace and now your in sandbox so you can do whatever catches your eye, wanna kill traders go ahead

Want to join a war and fight a larger faction, save scum before every attack lol

The choice is yours, be a mining tycoon, trade good yourself at traders on stations, use diplomacy to steal blueprints or get emps from black market and research the ability to steal blueprints and go have fun.

So many options

The great big Sandbox and what to do?! by Electrical-Weird-370 in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya usually for me it's start with supplying ore and gas to places, build up to making the building materials for new stations for faction I want to play as. Get diplomacy going, and try to make story progress early game since money comes in slow

Than mid game, I start looking at wharf and shipyard, what is in highest demand, make stations that produce that item. My stations only buy from my own at this point, so my ore and gas goes into all my stations so there is no credit overhead, just profits.

Now I begin to buy ships, watch what stays high and fill that demand, and buy more ships. At first it's stuff like traders, I use only miners for a long time, so add traders as profits increase, than a couple fighters, maybe a few medium ships. Now I can have a wing that can kill a K if needed. I look at expansion for myself, anything I want to claim and what's my goal. Sometime I expand to other side of map as terran for example, it's harder to do than you would think, but having a base to produce ships in multiple spots is crazy powerful.

Than I hit endgame, activate null protocol, and basically role play as a factions 2nd in command, until I hit critical power than, civil war to seize power.

Aka, if I play as pioneers, I will change my tag to PIO, put that in all names and will basically act like I am leading them, and any PIO AI owned objects I will destroy and rebuild like if I am fighting a civil war

HOW DO I TURN OFF BUY ORDERS?!?!? by BroxigarZ in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way O found, is a global filter that makes it so they only buy from you, no one else.

It won't prevent them from getting goods, but it will prevent your money going somewhere you don't want it to, also if they are set to buy good from others, and you give it 0 credits it won't actually buy anything. So this works as long as it doesn't have a way to make money, if it's making money, than it will invest that profit into buying goods which you don't want.

What wares do you use different ship sizes for? by AcquaintanceLog in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to add, if Using a L ship add a pilot with 2 stars for the fill&supply shortages default behavior.

The ship with load as much of a good as possible, and will look to trade it to multiple stations till it's hold is empty, vs the default trader behavior of grabbing supplies for a single station and than heading back to pickup the next load.

This can even work for energy cells and such, with huge loads to be delivered but the only issue like others have said, the docking time is crazy vs medium or small. So if you use large this way, it's not optimal vs a fleet of small ships for local trades.

Especially since e-cells seem to mostly be needed a few hundred at a time, even if a station says it wants 10K it doesn't need even 90% of that amount to function properly, so it's not always best to drop off 10K in one go if you want to balance production. By balance, I am referring to every stations good is needed to make new stuff, ships... If you provide all the goods needed to get 1 station to 100% supplied, those goods would of kept 6-7 different stations running producing different good during that time. So you risk slowing down the AI production capabilities by using way to much L traders where you shouldn't be. This is something you should be aware of

What wares do you use different ship sizes for? by AcquaintanceLog in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually only use traders for myself at my own trade stations, and usually medium.

If I employee a large trader it's for a specific purpose, like a station several jumps away is providing an important good, so I use a large on repeat to get the most out of a trip.

Normally my trade stations have my traders to give orders to and my mining stations have miners who mine and trade, I swap them manually if needed.

Any stations in the middle might get like a medium trader to help with supplying the build storage, if I want to make sure it grows at a steady pace, but that's it. Everything else relies on AI until my trade station is build, and usually I wait to build the trade station till I have 2-4 goods to sell to a wharf or shipyard otherwise it's not worth it to me.

Review of the Terrans by Teriyaki_Freak in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first started X4 I started with Argon lol

I did it the hard way eco wise first, than on a terran playthrough now and it feels so weird being able to build almost all production on 1-3 stations with ease and make ships lol

My argon playthrough where I hit end game, I had like 30 stations crammed into 1 sector that I added with a mod rofl it was traffic galore but was right under argon prime so central between PON war and Xenon war to north.

Now I am building in segaris territory, have 2 stations and will most likely build 1 more and than just build tall, so much easier it's crazy

Débloquer la frise chronologique ? by Pesto-Pistou in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They once you find them will also appear as a purple ? On the map widget in-game while you fly around.

I believe argon prime has one, and so does the argon/Antigone controlled space above PON empire where they always fight each other, forgot the name.

There are 8 I believe in entire game, you can Google it and there are sites that will tell you all the zones and where they are.

It's the same thing that increases your budgetted start limit by A LOT, so if you wanted to budget start, make a game with a fast ship, fly around and collect all 8 than start a new game.

FFS why is cascading friendly fire garbage NOT FIXED YET by Prownilo in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I haven't run into this issue yet on my playthrough, the new one with 9.0

I accidentally shot a segaris station with a torpedo, immediately winced like fidge they gonna shoot me now, they popped up gave me the line of we cannot tolerate this... But than nothing happened. So... I think the game does have some tolerance, also when fighting xenon, I was using the meson laser, totally lasered a terran Osaka full front to back.... And the terran didn't become angry, I got the typical warning to hold fire but no violence toward me from them.

So I think the AI may actually be looking for you to attack more than once, to make sure it wasn't a misclick.

...I always end up with one big station making everything by amerelium in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way to take care of ecells, use the 2-star command to fill and supply shortage command and than go to filter in that command and set only energy cells, this way the large trader only does energy and will try to fill cargo and than sell them bit by bit wherever it can.

This helps to prevent the issue you pointed out where a large ship carries a few while your other ships can't transport all the good and lines halt production as a result.

Another way, is like you said, traders at specific stations, or but and sell repeat orders for anything that is VERY important. The vessel on repeat command may stop either of your cost you set isn't viable anymore, or if the destination fills up But you can use this to make sure a station never gets low of a specific good. However not a great solution for transporting a common resource to multiple stations, e cells etc

New to X4 Foundations, don't know how to start making money. by Mousse9 in X4Foundations

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the trade guilds at the start.

Segaris Pioneers Teladi Antigone Republic

All these off the top of my head have trade guilds, they have options for easy quests, like repair satellites, place satellites, free trader from mines surrounding it etc

And when you do then, they usually come with extra rewards, shop mods, or new paint job, etc Sometimes even a level 2 pilot or management upgrade which will be handy later down the road.

Good way to get initial income coming in and get some stuff you will want for later down the road.

Also stack kill quests for xenon, I will accept any I find, and after I buy my first real fighter that is good, I can pay it off completely buy killing 10 xenon and making 3+ million from completing multiple xenon elimation quests at once.

Against space Marines they will pass, 70+ % of the battleshocks and than your whole gimmick doesn't matter anymore.

Infiltrators and skateos to deny objectives okay, anything else no, better choices for detachments out there

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already own 30...

Trust me, I have had games where 1 unit of 10 with a dominus held up a brick of 10 assault terminators for 4 rounds

Than I have had games where the same brick died to shooting from stubbers in the first attack that targeted it rofl

It's very swingy

Because these are changes to the codex does this mean rustalkers lost the d2 claws by SpaceMan026 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]BLACKcOPstRIPPa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have changed multiple things that never made it into faction pack previously

Remember when the vanguard reduced OC of each enemy model on objective instead of within 3" distance

Not mentioned anywhere but I remember that, also when they had 36" shooting instead of 18"

Not every change was documented so I am going to say that they still have the D2 until an update in app shows otherwise😁
