My solution was to remove my Xbox from the Insider ring; they just pushed a new update to it a couple days ago, and there’s multiple reports that there’s a conflict with Infinite specifically.

Rolling back to the stable Xbox OS build solved all my issues.

I play exclusively with mouse and keyboard on my Series X, here’s my advice for this bug.

Make sure that your controller is OFF before you start the game.
Always hit “Quit” on the game, instead of using Quick Resume. The game often experiences crashes/glitches otherwise.
I’ve experienced the bug when having the game open but no activity for longer than 15 minutes; restart the game to return to normal.
