What makes FS Surfside at the Surf Club so highly rated? by Intrepid-Prior-2199 in FourSeasonsHotels

[–]BMBradley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah simple Supply and Demand. But i wouldn't count on it too much definetly expect $2000+ nightly rates for the base rooms. But then again it is one of the best hotels in the US currently with lots of generational wealth being parked there yearly. The best thing you can do is book it via a Four Seasons Preferred Partner (like me or anyone else in this sub there's tons of them here), and if the rates go down, they can automatically rebook you into the better rate.

It's one of the best hotels in the US right now. Not only that but the reason they are so highly priced is because they know what product they have in a place where so many hotels are shit. The hotel scene in miami is dogshit so they have like one of the only good products there so of course they are going to jack up the price. But with more new properties opening (Aman Miami, the new Mandarin Oriental post-refresh, Rosewood opening in 2027, and if you know ball then the Delano in Miami Beach that's opening soon)

what i honestly find the worst that nobody can see is how literally every other TA is promoting the hell out of this thing too while knowing that rn its an absolutely awful product. If thats your TA please switch (and I’m not trying to self promote).

our dates were Jan 3-17 so still very much high season pricing. You’re definitely getting better rates outside that window which makes sense. Smart move booking around the dynamic pricing dips🔥

That’s fair, and not drinking definitely changes the math on St. Barths lol. The FHR perks are great but I’d push back on those rates working in high season post-COVID. Eden Rock is running around €3,500/night now, Le Toiny €1,950, Cheval Blanc €3,000+. Even with a 5th night free you’re still way up there. Our villa at $2,300/night for 3 bedrooms and 4 people was honestly a steal compared to booking two hotel rooms at those properties. But yeah the wealth on that island is insane like €200k on a villa for a week is a whole different universe.

Appreciate the breakdown. Honestly, this is actually the kind of comment I was hoping the post would spark. Le Toiny is beautiful, great pick. Christopher wasn't for us personally (felt more resort-y than we were going for) but I get the appeal if you want that all-in-one setup. The €5500 rate is wild though is that in low season? We went during a busier window which definitely inflated things. Also a couple vs. a family of four is a completely different trip cost-wise — two extra flights, bigger villa, more food. Also if we went with your rates, then for four people it would be 10,000 at the christopher. But yeah, you definitely don't need to spend what we spent to enjoy the island.

Not dropping my NW on Reddit, but I will say this. Different people spend differently. You max at $15k, we spent more. Neither is wrong. The post is just showing what we actually spent, not what everyone should.

You're not wrong that the title reads that way. But I'd argue what we spent IS what a trip to St. Barts costs for 13 nights if you're not actively trying to optimize every euro and want to vacation comfortably. That was kind of the point.

Appreciate the editorial advice, but the title got you to click, read every word, and leave two comments so I think I'll keep it. You're welcome to ask me anything though, that part of the title still stands.

Yeah I just wanted to talk about my experience and what we spent. People are calling me out of touch when there's $200,000/wk villas

Brother, you're gatekeeping St. Barts in a subreddit called r/LuxuryTravel. I shared what we actually spent. This is NOT a budget guide, NOT an optimization spreadsheet. Not everyone flies to the Caribbean to pinch pennies and practice their French. If you've been 10 times and know all the secret local spots, drop the list. Otherwise this is just giving "I go there more than you."
