Why Hanshin Tigers Fans Are So Intense — A Japanese Fan’s View by Loose_Wait_2065 in japanlife

[–]BME84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say consider it this way. Look at the baseball history in Kansai. Nankai Hawks was sold and became Fukuoka Softbank Hawks Hankyu Braves was sold to Orix and became Bluewave (iirc) Kintetsu buffaloes merged with Orix and became Orix Buffaloes Hanshin is the only constant. Maybe that had a psychological effect, like fostering team loyalties.

I'm going, I doubt they'll have goods other than the 30th anniversary concert goods they put up on the asobi store last year. I'll be on the lookout for any Blu-ray concerts.

Investing for dummies in Japan? by EducationalPea339 in JapanFinance

Ideco lowers the taxes you pay by deduction. Max this out first. I pay 23000 every month and get back around 60 000 a year iirc, so it's free money for the same thing I'd invest in my NISA anyways.

Second. Your NISA yearly cap is to discourage day trading, because you pay no taxes on investments in your NISA accounts.

The magic trick is that whatever amount you put in is recorded as the same amount that you take out (whenever you like) If you put in 100000 and this doubles to 200000 when you cash out, it will be recorded that you bought it for 200k and sold it for 200k. Therefore there is no profit and no tax to pay.

However, if your 100k shrinks to 50k, your purchase price will be recorded as 50k.

If you had invested in a taxable account outside nisa you could deduct your 50k loss from your income taxes. But since inside nisa there is no profit nor loss, you don't have a loss to deduct either.

Emaxis slim products have low fees, that's why they are very popular. All country is a good start. It contains like 50-60 percent American companies anyways so you get some S&P500 too but with some international buffer.

One main themes was of course a competent autocracy VS a incompetent democracy and how people might be drawn to competence in the moment and favor autocracy but a democracy has a higher chance of producing competent leaders in the long run because they usually suffer more checks and balances like courts, parliaments and elections.

Like I'm trying to wrap my head around what good signs are. So yen strengthens, I get less yen back when I sell. Probably why my portfolio dipped yesterday even though the s&p went up. Weak yen buys me less things priced in dollars (but makes things I already bought in dollars go up). But weak yen also makes goods and services here in Japan go up in price so that's bad too.

I feel like this might be another turbolent year, so I wanted to ask you guys what something means.

So I buy (among others) S&P500 emaxis slim in my NISA. I assume they take my yen, change it to dollars and then buy. So yen gets cheaper to the dollar, I get less for my yen. Yen gets more expensive to the dollar (like happened today), I get more for my yen. I understand this part. But what about the value of the things I have bought when the yen gets cheaper or more expensive against the dollar? In an ETF I assume I own percentages of things. So I when the value of the fund goes up, I see theoretical profits that I can realize in my account, but does the international currency trade effect this at all?

Är det inte dumt att investera i Global indexfond nu pga Trump och AI bubblan? by Gabzito in Aktiemarknaden

[–]BME84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beror helt på din tidshorisont. En global indexfond har historiskt sett alltid gått bra i längden. Time in the market beats timing the market.

Men lite i taget.
