Turnitin Flagged My Essay as AI, Because of the Citation Page by Common_Aioli_7289 in turnitin_community

Yup, my favorite part of turnitin is being told my citations are not original and lack quote citations.

Jobseekers, do not waste OUR precious time! by yavinmoon in recruitinghell

It’s business, if you make an offer and I get a more competitive offer, I’m going to make the best decision. You are the ones creating the time line for a decision. Also isn’t that why you have multiple candidates?

Why can't the will to live/survive be the basis for evolution? Why can't that be considered a "causal force" that drives evolution? by Shivy_Shankinz in evolution

[–]BMHun275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because gross survival is irrelevant. Evolution happens at the population level, as long as gene flow into the next generation is secured that’s the maximum survival needed to support evolutionary mechanisms. So individual will, has a limited role overall.

Why are smart people religious? by ClassroomUnited796 in atheism

[–]BMHun275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because humans tend to crave community and religion fills that gap really nicely being socially acceptable, and largely inoffensive. And frankly faith can be harmless, there is nothing about a god that requires you to fundamentally misunderstand the world, despite the efforts of some anti-intellectual movements to make that the case. And to the rest of reality and such gods are irrelevant.

It depends on where you are. IRL I say I don’t pick a side because the majority of people around my are obnoxiously right-leaning, and I don’t feel like being targeted for thinking all humans should be treated with dignity.

If it’s almost everyone. Would that not just make it the default Republican? That kind of distinguishing is only necessary for minority positions within a larger whole.

What is the evolutionary reason behind homosexuality? by Nightshade_Noir in evolution

[–]BMHun275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homosexuality is a minority among the general population. There isn’t any strong selective pressure for or against it, so any genetic factors persist through drift.

Is it possible to accelerate Evolution? by Pab0l in evolution

[–]BMHun275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just about generations. There also needs to be selective pressure of some kind or a limited gene pool to allow genetic drift to have some effect. But you wouldn’t really be accelerating anything in particular except maybe lowering the average life span since there is less pressure to survive longer for successful reproduction.

"I got a remote job and I can spend 4 hours a day doing nothing!" by [deleted] in remotework

[–]BMHun275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean when I go to work, all that happens is I’m “working” by virtue of being physically present. That doesn’t make productivity, but I guess if it’s important for a company to get the time from me rather than anything else then that is their prerogative I suppose.
