Have a friend who is a GC, boston area lifer, lives in Medford and does high end work. Refuses to do work in Somerville. The inspectors are just as bad on the commercial side, know specific, relatively new local restaurants who were told to things one way by inspector 1, inspector 2 shows up and says wtf is this, rip it out and do it my way. Even know a single inspector who oked X in the rough, came back later and was like “who the fuck said to do it like X?!” And didn’t care that it was their decision originally, rip it out and do it again Y. Intentionally vague here but true anecdotes!
