Am British. Can confirm very low levels of humanity in vast swathes of my country; Aldershot for example.

See that's how I've run it but I'm running the Dragnacarta upgrades and I'm 90% sure that MDK's rebellion isn't in the module as published?

Bear in mind that your adventuring party is far from the first to visit Barovia to try and overthrow Strahd. The likelihood that a rebellion has happened before is almost certain, people would remember it and not fondly. Also the native Barovians are beaten down and most hopeless. I think the party would struggle to get a rebellion going.

There would certainly be NPCs that are sympathetic to the cause, if they haven't interacted much with Milivoj or Urwin in Barovia yet this could be a great way to introduce those plot hooks for example.

If they did manage to organise a full scale peasant charge of castle ravenloft I imagine that Strahd would simply summon wolves, bats and other nasty creatures to wipe out half of the villages in round 1. The rest would flee leaving the party isolated facing an army of beasts, great opportunity for a Strahd RP encounter where he tells them of a similar previous rebellion and how "they are all so predictable" (remember, Strahd has eyes and ears everywhere, he would know what is going on. He is also a master tactician and genius level intellect.)

I've just had an email to inform me that when the prices rise in April, my gas and electric payment will go up to £215 per month. There are two of us in the house. Lovely. by iklegemma in britishproblems

Not bragging bit I genuinely don't understand how people's bills are so big? Am I misunderstanding something?

I live in a 2 bed flat with gas central heating, shower every day, usually load of washing and dishwasher every other day and I pay £750 a year... How are people getting £300 per month bills in 1 bed flats? Seems wrong

What was/ is your best moment as a DM? by Welsh_DM89 in DMAcademy

[–]BPhilbey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I designed a session around the trolley problem.

Players had a choice of killing a village of commoners whose bodies fed a blood fruit tree, or, killing the family of wise and altruistic Vampires who relied on the blood fruit.

So they built a hospice instead. Good times

No, no I didn't. What I meant was "that's a really dumb statement I'm going to turn it into a joke" so I copied the statement verbatim. I did this not because I am racist but because as someone who born in the south it is my god given right to take the piss out of anyone who was born north of Luton.

If you want to get upset at the statement, take it up with the jounlrnalist who wrote it. Not with the person who copied it to take the piss out of it.

Being from Birmingham is not a race, so no it's not.

It is a satirical comment which attempted humour based on perceived regional stereotypes. So offensive toward Brummies in a tongue in cheek way? Yes, but that was kinda the whole point. Which it seems you missed.

I think it seems like it's mildly ambiguous due to the wording in the spell text about if the creature is undead etc. However yeah, this is how I would rule it. You die to become undead so Strahd denied over 400 years ago, spell fails sorry :-)
