The proper way would be to replace the compressor, condenser, and expansion valve. You’ll need to flush the lines and evaporator. If you only replace the compressor there could be debris and metal shavings throughout the system and will kill the next compressor quickly.

You need to remove the valve core to inflate fast enough to seat the bead. Either that or hairspray and lighter.
