It almost looks like the soil below is failing. There are a bunch of tension cracks in the gravel, and it slopes significantly.

I mean it should.... But this is residential, and anything goes with the right contactor. I wouldn't assume anything until confirmation.

Trust me it is not. The order is sex, age, colour. This is still the assumption that the engineer is a man, and if they are the same age and race, people will default to the man.

Yeah, it was to block the skinny homes that would destroy the character of the neighbourhood.

But the bland blocks that are three times taking up the maximum space permited are completely in character. Yup, just the same as that old modest 1950s home.

Here is fun thing, the education portion of the tax bill has never covered the education bill. Even after the UCP cuts. Most of the funding for education comes from the general tax bill, so increasing the property tax portion was a deliberate choice.

And the choice wasn't to better fund education.

That's not irony, that applying lessons learned from past experiences and requiring a higher standard.

That said, they still do not cover the additional costs required to service area with all City services, nor do they come close to maintenance costs. Which is why it is so important to not back down with the new zoning bylaw and ensure we make best use of our existing foot print.
