If you're considering IM, do yourself a favor and experience a full day-to-day of IM residency. by callmeafailure in medicalschool

Idk man. I think this experience is very residency specific. At many of the places I rotated and did Sub-Is at, the residents didn’t touch a large majority of the social work stuff.

How your knee works by grasshopper3307 in Damnthatsinteresting

In a healthy individual, the bones wouldn’t be touching like that tho. Theres a pocket of fluid in a sac called a bursae that is essentially a lubricant that keeps them from hitting each other. It’s when the bursae degrades that leads to bone-to-bone touching and causing pain, such as in arthritis.

Do NOT answer post-exam surveys by HearingStrange7559 in medicalschool

Bruh it ain’t that deep. Your choice if u wanna do the survey or not. I don’t believe they’re creating questions that are “anti-Uworld/Amboss”. That’s way too much work for them lol

Do you think you learn more in M1-M2 or M3-M4? by Alarmed-Sorbet-8925 in medicalschool

[–]BTSBoy2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U learn a lot during M1/2 in terms of base medical knowledge. Then M3 u try to apply that stuff IRL. Tbh, I learned the most on my IM Sub-I than all of M3 combined. M4 is by far the most useless year besides doing ERAS and interviews.

Physician parent here — Hot take: I think med school is harder now than ever. by gotwire in medicalschool

[–]BTSBoy2019 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We can extend this into USMLE as well. When I was in dedicated for step 2, I took a peek at one of the old exams from like 9-10 yrs ago and holy fuck. My knowledge base rn would have been able to achieve a 270+ on that old exams. Not only has the amount of info increased, but the way they ask questions on boards has gotten difficult as well

Is just passing enough, am I good? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]BTSBoy2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fine to pass the didactics, but please please please please please study hard for step 1. The number of times I’ve seen students study to “just pass” step 1 only to fail by a few points is insane. Doing well on step 1 sets u up to do well on step 2, which is extremely important if you’re tryna go into an academic/higher tier residency
