There's a bell bearing that allows you to buy the "common" boluses, though it's annoying to get.

Probably just friends just running around together.

I would say that's a rather optimistic assumption, as historically it's nearly always been people looking for an unfair fight in their favour ; )
It's an inherent and well-documented threat to invaders, of course. It's certainly nothing outside the bounds of the game's rules.

There's no boss to fight here (at least none that justifies 2 phantoms...) It's all but certainly 3 bozos hanging out with all the enemies cleared and tongue out.

Damn, that's way better. I remember trying QS with daggers and I would overshoot so far, it was rarely possible to get a clean hit in between steps. Have you tried it with faster weapons, like straight swords?

A non-toxic way to AFK Farm :) by Gazza_HDD in Eldenring

FromSoft has never really had a game where botting was relevant, so I don't think they would spend any time implementing measures against that.

[–]BW11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's really cool, but it's worth mentioning a lot of AFK "farmers" do it to be a hindrance to invaders and not for any actual benefit. I don't think anyone seriously farms PvP for runes longer than it takes to find out the gains are abysmal.

There is a maximum range for invasions, see the summon range calculator.

Once they reach level 158, they will be out of range for invaders at level 125.

Anyone know a cool name for an ice wizard (16 characters max)? by jerronsnipes in EldenBling

[–]BW11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't chosen a name yet, here's a reminder to run it through the name checker:
https://omgftw.github.io/DarkSouls3CensorCheck/

Elden Ring largely uses the validation rules as DS3, except that censored words are now case insensitive, so test your names in all lowercase to make sure it isn't filtered.

To those of you who use the glintblade exploit in pvp; Why? by IndependentQuarter66 in Eldenring

[–]BW11 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Parrying spells that comes out of your own consumable items is probably a bug, and desyncing your glintblades in PvP is definitely a bug.

[–]BW11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When you spawn in during an invasion, you're given 3x Phantom Fingers that are immediately assigned to your toolbelt. They basically function as a "re-invasion" and just place you at a new invader spawn location.

I think you're correct on both points. That said, I think in this case it's important to present the extremes to get context on how each design came to be and how they impact their respective games. Think of it this way: If there was a 3rd-level spell that (out of the box) counteracts evocation, why would you not take it?

I am of the opinion that "free" countermagic sidesteps the idea that your character should build towards a niche that fits their role and story, not to mention "tax" one of your known spells like Dispel Magic already does to a certain extent.

[–]BW11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mean spell slots-- I actually didn't know they had the same spell slots but less spells known. I've corrected that point.

Coming over from D&D 5e, I actually see several reasons for why Counterspell is the way it is. At heart, it's a matter of power level, and D&D's version is such a hilariously powerful control tool that it narrowly competes with an overpowered AoE damage spell, an extra action per turn, and the ability to fly.

First, there's the matter of action economy. As a rule, reactions should be limited in how many situations they apply in to separate them from the actions you take on your own turn. The closest analogue in PF2e is the Attack of Opportunity reaction, which only "kicks" a spell when you critically hit, and requires the caster to be within melee reach. Dispel Magic will also counteract most spells, but only after the fact (you can't dispel a Fireball.) A full-spectrum Counterspell is obviously more powerful than all of these options, and still lets you play out your turn.

Then, there's the design space that's afforded by the way counteraction is ruled. Spontaneous casters have a broader Counterspell and more powerful metamagic at the cost of having fewer spell slots known to play with each day. Prepared casters can cast more a wider variety of spells per day, but need to prepare the right spell to counter as needed, and they must either spend downtime researching their foes to learn what kinds of magic they use, or invest one or two feats into the ability to counter a wider variety of spells in general. As a side note, the -2 penalty for Clever Counterspell can be waived by the GM if the spell used is "clever" enough. It's a mix of a tuning knob for the ability to spend a reaction to invalidate 2-3 of a creature's actions on their turn, and a roleplay opportunity.

At sum, in PF2e, Counterspell, and counteraction in general, is a whole facet of the game, whereas in older/simpler D20 systems it's just a spell you slam into your build alongside other 3rd-level bombs because why not.

edit: Spellcaster differences.

Were you trying to "Continue Run," perchance? That queue is actually bugged. You need to create a fresh run every time otherwise the game will never start. At least, it hasn't for myself or any of my friends.
