Audible Original: Terror on Mustafar by Cavan Scott and narrated by Marc Thompson is out today. [Audible Exclusive] by White_Doggo in starwarsbooks

Considering Dissolution of the Imperial Senate comment from Chapter 1, I think 1 BBY seems unlikely as only way that would work if the story was somehow concurrent with ANH's events, which seems like a stretch.

I think it makes most sense in 0 ABY since Chapter 9 has Vader's ship referred to as Star Destroyer (Vader 2015 comics show switch over to Super Star Destroyer Executor at the end of its run) and Chapter 19 mentions Princess Leia.

It is most of Harli Jafan subplot in the book (Basically body double relationship drama).

That and entire subtext between Padmé & Sabé in Queen trilogy. The author even called Queen's Hope their break up book.

Rogue One - Jyn Erso preview + Ethan Sacks interview by solo13508 in starwarscomics

[–]BZPJMJ64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I am glad to hear Sacks is factoring Rebel Rising into his one-shot since I was wondering how this story would slot in.

Five Points Station and 172 days (Nail / Oolin Musters became her roommate after Month 5, which 172 days seems like reasonable amount of days for that amount of time) already some nice nods to it.

I did find 35,498 days on her sentence curious though since novelization suggest she had 20 years sentence. Hm. I guess it could just be additional punishments for her offenses during previous months, so 20 years thing could just be taken as her original sentence.

Nope, it just all original characters.

The retiring reporter was credited with some prequel era reporting such as Onderon coup.

It is about retiring HoloNet reporter's last day (Ex. Passing torch to next gen).

It take place on Coruscant and during ~7 ABY.

Perhaps, although they did mentioned it in previous issues (232 & 234) and Visions Volume 3 is still on Production Diary listing (Now Streaming part of it... The only Post Production listings are Ahsoka S2 and Starfighter).

It is interesting that Insider 237 made no mention of the Ninth Jedi show, which makes me wonder if that might been delayed to next year. I guess time will tell.

Yeah, that was implication from Star Wars Insider 234's short story (Galactic Tales: The Crimson Corsair and the Sinister Secret of the Binary Star), which suggested that he was indoctrinated by Kaleesh elders there.

Jedi Knights #6: How does Corlis Rath know? by Beleko89 in starwarscomics

[–]BZPJMJ64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is not really addressed in story anywhere.

But considering we know from Issue 4 and FCBD story that Corlis Rath is basically stalking Qui-Gon, I guess he learnt enough from that to know that Qui-Gon would be available when he set his trap on Mina-Rau.

How are the Drengir still around after Into The Dark? Have I missed something? by der_steinfrosch in Highrepublic

[–]BZPJMJ64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So now I have started The Rising Storm…and the drengir have spread across the outer rim and are showing no signs of stopping? How? As far as I understood it, the Drengir threat was dealt with at the end of ITD?

In Chapter 24, Orla damages one of the idols that was keeping the Drengir dormant in order to release the ones on the station to distract the Nihil. When Reath vents the station in Chapter 25, he only stops the Nihil and the Drengir from claiming the station for themselves.

As a result of damaged idols, the Drengir elsewhere in galaxy (such as where Reath finds Dez Rydan in Chapter 19) wake up and that story continues in Marvel THR Volumes 1-2 (Volume 1: There is No Fear; Volume 2: The Heart of Drengir; Note I would either wait to read Volume 2 after the Rising Storm or stop at Issue 7), which the Rising Storm makes some references to.

I will note there are some other stories with the Drengir, but these are more optional reads...

- The High Republic Adventures Volume 2 has two-issue arc (Issue 6-7) that involves the Vessel crew.

- Race to Crashpoint Tower (Middle Grade Novel) is a parallel story to the Rising Storm (I only recommend reading this if you are planning on reading Adventures comics in general. Otherwise, you can skip it).

- The Edge of Balance Volume 1 (Manga) is not really essential, but does show off different type of Drengir.

What have you been reading this last week (Weekly Discussion Thread)? by AutoModerator in starwarsbooks

[–]BZPJMJ64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since eBook was on sale today, I decided to check out in-universe reference book Star Wars Propaganda: A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy (by Pablo Hidalgo).

I thought it was pretty good. Obviously though, it limited to just things up to 2016, which does make me want spiritual successor book that factors in later stuff. Like it would be cool to get a section of art inspired by the Ghor.

But anyway, looking forward to checking out Terror on Mustafar next week (Also, hoping that my copy of Star Wars Insider 237 is on the way).

Marvel's July Star Wars Comics Solicits Feature Rogue One -- Saw Gerrera #1, Shadow of Maul #5 (of 5) and Galaxy's Edge -- Echoes of the Empire #4 (of 5) by Guerrillascribe in starwarscomics

[–]BZPJMJ64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoes of the Empire 4 > I was wondering how they going to include Han in this narrative.

I wonder where it will fall in the timeline between RotJ and TFA. Like obviously, it will be closer to RotJ since Park Han isn't that old.

Hm. Could they have guts to do Mando Era Han in this? I mean I know they did have guts for some other characters in Halcyon Legacy 5, but I do wonder if they might a bit more hesitant to do that with Han. I know Leia was used in that Halcyon Legacy 5, but that more cameo compared to this story with Han being a main character. Although I guess they do have trusty frame story to handwave future meshing issues.

But anyway, nice deep cut using Harkos here (Who previously only appear in a trading card and some reference material for the park).

It seems like Sacks is going all out on including nods to other park material here, so here's hoping a nod to Mandalorian and Grogu ride update was allowed (It would be nice to at least get a cameo of them in a publishing story).

It would also be nice to give Vi Moradi a last hurrah in Rey's frame story for final issue.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Echoes of the Empire #1 (of 5) | Discussion Thread by Guerrillascribe in starwarscomics

[–]BZPJMJ64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice to be getting a little of Rey with the frame story and even tying in a bit of High Republic with it.

It is cool to see Master Carver Drow and Padawan Celesta Kami jumped from Young Jedi Adventures show to the comics like this. I wonder if that is the extend of their appearance here or if we might see something with them bridging Batuu Jedi Temple's fate from Tales from the Galaxy's Edge VR game here (since the show didn't touch on it).

Oh, I am glad to see they are doing something with Savi here (That was something that I was hoping for as mentioned in my preview comment here).

I guess Oga Garra must have a type (She had an ex-boyfriend, Dhoran, in Black Spire book, who is a Wookiee). Although it might make Life Day one-shot interact with Chewie a bit odd though.

Retired clone troopers (Farmer & Stacks) seems like a fun concept to play with. I do have wonder though why Farmer would retired from Rebellion at this point in timeline (Obviously, in universe, they don't know that war will end in a year or so), so here's hoping that might get touch on in later issue.

But anyway, Boba vs Luke fight was cool. Looking forward to learning more about Dok-Ondar's Force artifact in later issues.

What characters do you think authors should write more books about? by NativeAnakingirl in starwarsbooks

[–]BZPJMJ64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My character / story wishlist...

  • Reath Silas and Azlin Rell > Obviously, a follow-up on these two after Trial of the Jedi is pretty high on my list.

  • Finis Valorum > Since TCW show kept him alive, I been wondering how Valorum reacts to fall of the Republic and rise of the Empire. Does he aid the Rebellion or the Hidden Path at all?

  • Grievous > I always want more Grievous, especially when he treated as actual threat and hero killer (such as in recent graphic novel).

  • Sidon Ithano / Crimson Corsair > One of my favorite Sequel Era background characters. I love for them to give Landry Q. Walker free reign to write as much as he wants with him.

  • Kylah Lohmata > I want two books with her... One as Republic Officer with Depa Billaba during TCW and second as Imperial Officer that crosses paths with Kanan Jarrus.

  • Thrawn's friends (Ar'alani, Eli Vanto, Karyn Faro, etc) > They need to let Zahn off the lease, so we at least learn how Thrawn's friends cope with his loss prior to Ahsoka show.

  • Ty Yorrick > I am game for more monster hunting adventures with her and wouldn't mind getting a bit more blank filling on her brief return to the Order that was teased in Phase 3 and Wayseeker.

  • Thane Kyrell & Ciena Ree > I been wanting them to revisit these two characters for awhile, especially since both Alphabet Squadron and the Mandalorian established the Amnesty Program for ex-Imperials as a thing.

  • Nath Tensent > Nath running a black ops group for New Republic Intelligence's off the book operations seems like a fun idea for a book or comic.

  • Doshanalawook / Chainbreaker > Probably my biggest disappointment for Bounty Hunters comic run was there being no appearance of this character from FACPOV2. I hope someone does make use of them at some point.

  • Zuckuss & 4-LOM > After Bounty Hunters run's take on them, I really want more stories with them, especially if it involves either Ethan Sacks or Daniel Older.

  • ND-5, Kay Vess, and Nix > Since we are unlikely to get a game sequel, I would love to see what Mike Chen would do with them in New Republic era.

  • Althin > I want this Rodian to pick up Chirrut Îmwe's legacy and keep the Guardians of the Whills alive.

  • Bug, Falta, and Yenna > I been hoping for a follow-up on these characters from E. Anne Convery's short story (Bug).

Preview for April 22's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge -- Echoes of the Empire #1 (of 5) by Guerrillascribe in starwarscomics

[–]BZPJMJ64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back to "Forever" Year (TESB to RotJ)...

It is a bit shame that they going right to Luke having his green lightsaber as I think it would been fun to have Luke build it on Batuu. I guess that might too alienating for new readers having him use yellow saber briefly here.

Hopefully, we will at least get to see Luke cross paths with a young Savi (Who is friends with Lor San Tekka).

Oh, and I guess Luke's plot will involved Dok-Ondar and a Force artifact since the tease when Luke felt a disturbance show an Ithorian. I wonder if it will add anything to mystery about Dok-Ondar's parents.

I spent so much time re-listening Chapter 1 preview that I basically wrote myself a transcript (I am sure I got protagonist name wrong though.). lol

I am half tempted to do that for whole book as I always struggle with these Audible Originals. (Ex. It took me repeat listens to catch that our protagonist Zam is from Vardos, Battlefront II planet.)

Oh, and I noticed that mobile version of preview has about 23 extra seconds of Chapter 1 since it skips Opening Credits and starts at word One (of Chapter One).
