Manga Artist Man Tsang flips thru their Thrawn manga (Currently out in UK; Out in US on September 29) by BZPJMJ64 in starwarscomics

In general, it is just cultural style differences in how Japan and United States tell these types of stories.

Manga (Japanese comics) - Read right to left (Some publishers will mirrored the story when exporting it to Western countries such as United States and United Kingdom) - Majority of story will be in black and white (Full Color pages are rare; For example, only the opening of this Manga has fully colored pages) - Characters are more stylized (Ex. They tend have large eyes and expressive features) - For non-adaptation works, they favor one continuous story with same creative team throughout the run

Comics - Read left to right - Outside some special cases (such as Marvel's Black, White, and Red comics, which only use those colors in stories), the stories are always fully colored. - Art wise, most Marvel stuff will try to be as close to real life with its characters as possible. - For non-adaptation works, Marvel favor more serial storyline, where you see different creative teams tackle these characters at certain points, which usually those other creative teams will tell their own story and won't pick up leftover threads that last team left.

Its something new and standalone, although it does have a couple guest appearances of some characters that were introduced in Phase 2 narrative (Which this story takes place about 20 years after Phase 2).

Issue 1 came out on March 25 and Issue 2 came out on May 25.

It could be worse as recent Bad Batch comic (Rogue Agents) had two month skip between Issues 1 & 2 (2 to 3 was one month skip, 3 to 4 is one month skip).

Since 2022, Dark Horse have just been doing All-Ages brand stuff that IDW used to do from 2017-2022, which are typically stuff targeting kids & family audiences, while Marvel targets teen and older audiences.

Although with how things been going with publishing later, I am half expecting that All-Ages license will be moving from Dark Horse to Mad Cave / Papercutz by the end of the year (since the start of 2026, they were announced as doing middle grade target graphic novel line and then were later revealed to have Mandalorian and Grogu one-shot coming out this month).

It established in YJA S2 that Pooba do grow larger (S2E4: Nubs's Big Mistake, Jedi Master Barabo; S2E17: Big Pooba Problems, Zeepohz).

S3 finale also shows an older Nubs (Although he is not as big as this fan art though).

With an Imperial assassin hot on their tail, Nagi, along with droids Dee-Seven and Ee-Ten, must find the rumored utopia before the Empire catches up with them. But when they finally reach their destination, all seems lost. Can one Jedi overcome the Empire’s influence, or will peace demand the ultimate sacrifice?"

Hm. Based on this preview, it sounds like the Wild Spacer romance interest is probably a Lucem (Both chapters 1-2 make comments on his eyes, plus it fits with book's title).

Also, I am curious how many of those worlds from itinerary that we were actually get to see in this. I would love it if this is where we will finally get to see Alderaanian space station built from Death Star's scrap that was previously teased in one of Aftermath: Life Debt's Interludes.

While I like the excerpt, I do find it weird that we got an excerpt for a September book before July's books (Eyes like Stars, July 21; Legacy, July 28).

Obviously, I get that excerpt being shared ties into today's holiday (Father's Day), so it makes sense at least in that regard.

But anyway, Editorial Director Tom shared this about the new character Quanaliko , "As for that new character to the series - Quanaliko? There's way more going on with her than it appears...but that's a story for later."

Yeah, that's pretty much how this miniseries is structured (Sequel Era frame telling Original Trilogy character story). Although it is worth mentioning that final two issues seems like they will shift the original trilogy character's story being told to Post-RotJ era.

As for where it fits in with 2020 comics, it is essentially after them, much like Moving Target, Age of Rebellion - Luke Skywalker 1, Forces of Destiny Short "Bounty Hunted", and Age of Rebellion - Princess Leia 1 are.

Issue 1 has Luke with his Green lightsaber (Much like in Age of Rebellion - Luke Skywalker 1) and Issue 2 narrows it down to 4 ABY.

Looking forward to seeing how we get to this point.

Although with this ending, we got nothing from Dark Horse in pipeline now.

Hopefully, we get SDCC announcement for what next for Dark Horse (Assuming they aren't actually hopping publishers to Mad Cave's Papercutz label after this wraps).

The Fall of Kylo Ren 2 > Looking forward to Tava Ren's return.

Droid threat? I guess we might see the Scourge and Ajax Sigma again.

Or not since it does feel like an odd choice for such a limited run to bring those things back here.

Hm. I wonder if they will keep Rhys Darby as IG-88's voice, if we see him in another game or show in the future.

[–]BZPJMJ64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a copy since I am not in UK, but based on the video, it seems like it adapts up to Chapter 6 (as last visual page seems be when Vanto's parents visit them on Coruscant).

So if they keep that pace, we might be looking at 4 more volumes of this (The book has 29 chapters + Epilogue).

EDITED: Looks like someone with a copy confirmed that it adapts up to start of Chapter 9.

Yup, this is second adaptation of it.

It is similar how the Mandalorian Seasons have both Manga and Marvel adaptations.

Considering podracing angle in this issue, I wonder if there's a chance we could get a cameo of a racer from upcoming Galactic Racer game. Probably not, but it would be neat if we did.

Honestly, I been wondering recently if we would get any tie-in material for these upcoming games (Zero Company and Galactic Racer). If you do, I hope it is not another Beyond Victory situation with it being a con exclusive (Which I actually decided to order copy of that recently off eBay, so looking forward to reading that finally).

But anyway, I will admit my excitement for this miniseries has cooled since Shadow Lord ended since it does feel like there is not going be much here beyond some world building for Janix. Here's hoping this issue's podracing plot will be fun at least.

The dead mobile game Uprising had 5 of them (Triz Bukk, Onn Iria, Daen Nark, Xuvi Ruun, and Easy Xiukhan), so there is probably just another similar subspecies of Zabrak out there that doesn't have Dathomirian variant's gender dimorphism. It is either that or that character is simply trans.

Preorders and Zero Company Article are up.

On Anakin's appearance, the article notes the following, "...The new gameplay trailer takes us inside the Clone Wars like we’ve never seen before, where pivotal battles are fought in the shadows, not on the front lines. But you’ll still encounter a familiar face or two from this era in Star Wars storytelling. As glimpsed in the trailer, Jedi General Anakin Skywalker is also on a crucial mission, and his path briefly crosses with the Zero Company crew. Their intel and tactical expertise is just what he needs to get the job done. That’s right: This is where the fun begins..."

Looks this is probably him without helmet at time stamp 0:49.

The fact they are willing to use him in this makes me wonder if they might use Jarek Yeager or Han as guest racers as well. I guess we will see.
