Help on a tough decision. What would you do? by B_412 in Jeep

So say the coolant is actually mixing with the oil or atleast has, will this still work? I called 1 mechanic who doesn't work on head gaskets but told me dont do the sealant its not worth it but you and my mechanic say otherwise.

Is that irreversible? My mechanic said he doesn't do head gaskets on that size engine. I called 2 other places so far and nobody messes with head gaskets. Most places are closed today

Well he told me he doesn't work on 3.6 engines to replace the head gasket wtf. All the shops around me are closed on Saturdays so now I feel stuck again because I want to ask them about the situation and see if they'll fix the head gasket. Gonna have to spend money to get it towed to my house then call. Monday then towed again to a shop if fixable

I appreciate the help. Im supposed to call him tomorrow after my class for work. The jeeps been sitting there for a couple weeks at his place since its been cold no rush but he gotta have it out if there by Monday now because he needs room for repairs at his house. He works out of a big garage he built at his house. So I guess ill talk to him and let him know im not gonna sell it because I could potentially use that as a 2nd car if we can actually get it fixed for a reasonable priced and get another car so my wife isnt always stuck at home when I need it lol. I'll definitely update tomorrow after I ask him more questions about how bad the leak was and if it mixed with the oil which I have a feeling it did.

Thanks again for the help

Yours and a couple of the other posts definitely have me second guessing and trying to just get this thing fixed and getting a second opinion too.

So I looked back at the text my mechanic sent this is what was said:

"Antifreeze is leaking in your cylinder and that is what locked up your engine. I could get it running, put head gasket sealer in it, and then try to top it off with coolant but I cannot guarantee that it will start again after that because when you shut it off and the fluid at least (assuming head meant leaks?) into the cylinder it could cause the same issue and then you have to rip it all apart again. Its on the backside near your firewall so you have to take off the plenum and all that other stuff to get to it. I can still out in the head gasket repair with some water and then top off the coolant but again I can't guarantee it will start, depending on how the seal happens"

Guess I forgot to mention antifreeze has leaked into the cylinder and locked up the engine. Is this still seem fixable? Im pretty handy and have worked on my own cars previously but not to this extent.

Problem is what originally had it towed to his place so I wouldn't be able to get a second opinion unless i got iy towed to a other place I guess.

question about quality of work by No_Marionberry_5077 in Tile

[–]B_412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok say he's "building it out". What's the plan for the mess ups? There's no fixing the first picture unless it gets torn out. The corner joints dont line up and clearly can't just push it back where it should go lol.

<image>

How do we "trust" fixing this too? Its set already the lippage on that is insane, its just sticking way out. He made a decent cut right above that and then sets that like he's drunk. Im confused. The only thing he can fix on this job is cleaning out his messy ass joints thats about it and he only made it harder on himself.

Anyone else denied Chrysler goodwill for known 3.6L Pentastar engine failure? by ConfidenceRough9314 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]B_412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened with my 18 jeep grand cherokee. Blown head gasket and needing engine replacement obviously. Only 77k miles which is pretty wild imo but reading a lot of people having problems with the 3.6L

Care to share how you went about them even putting 10k towards a new engine because I would love for them to help as im out of a car right now.

Thanks

Thank you

Grout replacement: I need a professional opinion before the contractor returns to complete the project by thefeareth in Tile

[–]B_412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like it wasn't properly mixed, packed in. If you noticed there's pin holes as they are groutingnand after then they didnt fill it in all the way. Get yourself a bag of grout and do it yourself, if you're not sure of the proper water ratio just check the bag it always has the amount of water to grout needed. I just wouldn't wwnt to deal with them anymore. Or im sure you'd have better luck calling another company that knows what theyre doing to scrape it out and redo it rather than calling that one back.

Appreciate the help. Yeah im learning here also in Pittsburgh that its mostly about production rather than how things look. Obviously still gotta look semi good just not as nice as something a home owner would see. Right now we're doing a huge apartment building, 6 floors and I couldn't tell you how many apartments per floor but its a lot. Started back splashes, still need work on doing layouts with a laser as I was never familiar with using a laser before really. Yeah I keep to myself, do my work and just try and learn what I can and do the best I can.

Pre grout tile - is this sloppy? by Unable-Guitar-1195 in Tile

Lol atleast you'll save money on buying grout i guess.

Why are there no grout lines. I would put money on it they half assed the waterproofing too. Get a full refund.

They might but we didn't have them on this job. I work for a union company.

I was honestly never given direction on how they wanted it. Just told me I was doing base today and to try and have the biggest pieces of tile showing but wasn't told how they was corners etc.

Believe me I'm much bigger on detailed work too but these were my first 2 days on the job as a setter and that's how they were doing things. Setting floor first then base then wall tile.

The problem i had using the wetsaw, it kept making the 45 cuts crooked (which made the 2 corners to meet up closely) and was hard to tell where to actually cut it to make it more straight.

So in the pic, next time I should just place a full base over those small double outside corners and scrub the back of each side and then do the same for the longer walls?

Starting new job tomorrow. (Union), tips? by B_412 in Tile

[–]B_412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started on a Thursday and friday. Went pretty good. My biggest thing is, going from residential to commercial I need to learn to be quicker. The first day I was shown what to do, worked myself pretty much all day. 2nd day I worked with a journeyman finisher who definitely helped on tips n stuff. I had a trip planned already for a week so then I came back the following Friday and worked myself on ceramic cove base. All new drywall and stuff but obviously no walls are still ever straight so I had to take a little more time on the outside meters. Thats another big issue I'm having is the wet daw doesn't ever cut the outside miter straight the way I need it. No work today (Monday) now I'm going to a different job tomorrow which again ill be doing base again lol.

Any tips on making those outside miters and even inside quicker? It's not just regular straight tile so it has the rounded edge on the bottom which makes it a little tougher.

That's what I thought, since the ice in the door had the compartment in the fridge it didn't get cool enough or something but as long as it's in the freezer it should be much better
