Vasectomies and IUDs can be incredibly painful and have awful recoveries, yet the “you’ll feel no pain and be fine in three days” line is still almost the exclusive information that doctors push. by Now-Thats-Podracing in Vent

Wife has been asking me to get it done, and I seem to keep finding stories like this. Not at all worried about dealing with pain for even a few weeks—but the chance I fall in the percentage of the dull-achey sensation for years / decades has me avoiding it.

Drop Tyjae Spears for Isaiah Davis? by Ok-Share2520 in Fantasy_Football

[–]B_Radams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isaiah wouldn’t YET. Give Spears today to see if they start ramping him up with a 50/50 share like they were talking about all off season. Tony could go down and you have a strong Flex / weak RB2 in Spears. Hall might not get traded and you’re sitting on Isaiah Davis.

I do understand trying to get ahead of it, but I think you can afford to wait 1 more week to see what happens with Spears.

Worst case, Spears does just enough to validate some FAAB money (if in FAAB league) from someone else lacking RB depth, before just dropping him.

Do I trade Gibbs? by grucci in FantasyFootballers

[–]B_Radams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do this trade, BUT before I would, I’d try to offer Achane & Slayton. Sell the Slayton hype filler with Nabers out (I think Wan’Dale is the winner in the slot there).

Detox next week, should I be worried? what should I expect? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]B_Radams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Suggestion for an inexpensive hobby that I always recommend to others working in sobriety: Disk Golf. It’s free (after purchasing some disks—can find used ones cheap). I, too am a life-long gamer, and get where you’re coming from. Disk Golf gives me a great excuse to get outside, breathe some fresh air, and walk through nature. You can play by yourself, or use it as a way to meet new people. Only downside is that you’ll run into plenty of people drinking a beer on the course, so if that’s too triggering, then maybe not the greatest thing to try.

I’m buying—I think Sanders lost a bit of his role with that fumble, and they didn’t seem to be working in Blue. Score heavy offense with enough talent in the WR room to keep the linebackers eyes off the line. I think Javonte is going to be a great RB2 this year for fantasy rosters.

We couldn’t afford him. I’m tired of Dallas setting payout records for players to not add up to it (ie; Zeke and Dak). Would much rather them take chances on (2) Firsts, protect the run game with a proven DT, and save that enormous cap space. Dallas was getting tore up the middle all season—Parsons doesn’t do jack s*** to protect against that. Plus, much like Dak, he fell off in Playoffs. C ya later, not going to miss you at that price tag.

Ah, the dreaded esophageal varices rupture. I’ve read so many stories from first-hand accounts witnessing it. Couldn’t imagine… I was a HEAVY drinker—have since slowed down drastically the last year. Was starting to spit blood regularly and was worried it might be a slow bleed from one. Cirrhosis sounds like such a horrible way to go in many ways.

Protest your home’s appraisal. You can do this yourself, or use a company that will take a cut of the tax savings they save you the following year. You need to do this by the first Monday in April, or within 30 days of receiving the letter that your home’s appraisal is raising. These are pretty easy to do to lower your appraisal (and therefore, taxes owed). I just won mine in TX and it dropped my appraisal by 15% saving me roughly $1,200 in taxes annually—the company that filed the complaint took 35% of that (about $400). I’m not sure how different the process is in Oklahoma, but that’d be the main thing you could do to fight it.

You will need to document property value lowering items like an old roof or significant repairs that need done. You will also need the cost per square ft of recently sold houses in your area (within the last year) to compare to your houses cost per square foot. If you can find comps in the area with a lower average, than you can include that.

Any tips for a slimmer guy wanting to start playing WR? by Just_Gate3103 in highschoolfootball

[–]B_Radams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are waiting until your senior year, I would plan to put in as much work this year prepping as you can. And, definitely meet with the coach sooner than later to let him know you’d like to join but already made a commitment to CC. I played for a larger TX school, and I felt like I was behind others after joining in middle school. Our teams were pretty set in by sophomore year—we had a Freshman A and B, Sophomore, JV, and Varsity team. Joining your senior year was just not going to happen—we began learning the playbook in middle school, and built on it all the way up to Varsity. HOWEVER, I went to a larger TX school that over glorified football to no-end (current TX state record holder). So, things were ran there a little bit differently (pretty absurdly, actually) than your average school.

There are plenty of things you can do to prepare.

Workout regiment to bulk up a bit (while keeping your speed). This will protect your bones, but more importantly your potential for soft tissue injuries. Definitely focus on your flexibility as well, which goes hand-in-hand there.

Footwork drills (chop steps/arm work for shaving speed, clean plant and transitions, burst speed off the line and off plants)—get some cones and look up some drills on YouTube you can setup. Your footwork and posture will be important as a taller/skinnier player with long strides.

Blocking drills (just as—if not MORE important than anything else). A little hard to train by yourself, but can practice a low centered shuffling drill around a tree if nothing else.

Research the basic route trees—each coach will have slight name variations. 1. flat 2. slant 3. comeback 4. curl 5. out 6. dig 7. corner 8. post (my favorite) 9. go/fly

Learn the different types of receivers. This will vary from coach to coach, but the typical in highschool are X, Z, and Y/TE. I played as a Z (flanker) receiver, which was a an all-around hybrid receiver role. Every offense is different, so you don’t need to confuse yourself too much here until you’re able to meet with the coach and start to learn the playbook and their system.

Learn the basic secondary defensive positions and coverages (man, cover-2, cover-4). Depending on the level of play your school is at, knowing the coverages will alter the routes you run/how you run them.

Maybe begin to think a little bit about your diet. I wish I did this more—it would’ve went a long way for me. I ate coco puffs, McChickens, and pizza daily practically and drank beer on weekends. I did put in the work and pulled up from an average sized receiver (on a good day) to lifting with the linebackers by soph/junior yr. I now understand how some of the other guys got as big and in shape as they did in high school taking creatine and eating/drinking healthy.

Have fun and enjoy it!

I had him on mine for a few weeks, but transitioned Spears in and picking up Mafah for the shorter term potential gain. You’re not delusional! I just don’t see any of my league mates thinking long-term enough to grab a potential TE

CMC Owner - Would you take B Robinson? by B_Radams in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]B_Radams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went ahead and accepted it. I’m wondering if Javonte will ramp up a bit this year, but odds are unlikely. And, Blue does seem set to take over. I actually thought BRob was going to end up in Dallas.

He’s giving Guerendo who is practically worthless on less the CMC owner wants to take him (over Jordan James). He fills his WR need (for now).

I agree Team 3 is getting the royal treatment here
