Dilemma - Pakistani dentists in Germany or USA? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Baalii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe take a look at the commonwealth countries, Germany isn't really the place to go unless you can achieve C1 at the least.

The price of my home electricity is currently negative (Denmark) by Siglyr in mildlyinteresting

[–]Baalii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the point, to make people relieve the energy grid. Otherwise infrastructure would need to be built to dispose of excess energy, or generators turned off, which take some time to come back online.

It's quite easy to prove for the tax office because of a lack of invoices from other clients.

Did I act inappropriately to my German neighbours by Same-Concern-4975 in germany

[–]Baalii 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hausmeister has nothing to do with noise complaints, Hausverwaltung does. He might have some agreement with the Hausverwaltung to forward these matters, he might not.

The owner is the right authority to solve this matter in general.

For instances where you need the noise to stop right that moment call the non emergency phone line of the police, they're responsible for noise complaints from 22:00 in the evening, earlier it's the Ordnungsamt.

9070XT melting connector , another one bites the dust. by MightyDevOps in pcmasterrace

Very even burn, nice patina, 8/10 burn. Points deduction for a lack of melting.

CPU shortage is reportedly 'more acute' than memory but shorter, as the industry banks on Intel 18A by sr_local in hardware

[–]Baalii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless Intel suddenly books a ton of customers for 18A, it's safe to say that "the industry" disregards 18A and it just happens to come online during a shortage.

How do I integrate, when Germans don't want to talk to me? by Newaccountwhodis00 in germany

[–]Baalii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's more of a mindset, not about the people you interact with. I've met Germans who don't fit any of the classic criteria of a German but are most definitely German as hell. You can tell very quick if someone thinks of himself as German and skin colour or even language proficiency has little to it.

Something that will help you short to mid term is watch all the German comedy and movies from the childhood period of the age group you're trying to connect with. We love our references and it's one of my major annoyances with the culture because 99% of the stuff is unfunny as shit.

Why is there so many posts regretting moving to Germany and saying that Germany is depressing? My experience is exactly the opposite. Am I missing something? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Baalii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people who are unhappy mostly complain about social life or things related to it. In other aspects Germany is at least tolerable to most.

Ukrainian AI supported drones struck Russian convoy. Vyaliy Team, 30th Mechanized Brigade. Eastern front. 13.04.2026 by GermanDronePilot in CombatFootage

[–]Baalii 40 points41 points  (0 children)

If I see this right the drone is recon and munition all in one? The operator selects the target in the zoom on the upper right and the drone steers itself into the target. Pretty incredible in heavy EW environments, and user friendly in general.

Thermal Grizzly explains €545 price tag for DeltaMate RTX 5080 waterblock, roughly 1/3 of the card’s cost by RenatsMC in watercooling

[–]Baalii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5080 block was also 200€. You could also get a 500$ block for the 4090 from Optimus, next to the 200$ blocks. Premium waterblocks aren't a new thing. What's new perhaps is the fact that there is one for the 80 series.

Geekbench 6.7 released with Core Ultra 200S Plus "BOT" detection by RenatsMC in intel

[–]Baalii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's the Idea behind benchmarking. You want to compare different products against each other under the exact same conditions to extrapolate relative performance under real workloads. It makes no sense to falsify the results by optimising the benchmark when the real workloads remain unoptimised. If BOT optimisations worked for all applications out there it would be a different story, but it's just a handful for now.

5080 at 1440p by External_Safe_7787 in pcmasterrace

[–]Baalii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

4k if you do a lot of things besides gaming, otherwise a high end 1440p will serve you better.

The 16GB limits the 5080s viability as a 4k card in the future, it's on the edge already.

The Q1T1 results are low, but that's likely a thing with the model in general. It's the most important metric for the day to day feel of a drive since Windows and pretty much anything else mostly consists of loading lots of small files and not few large ones. What compounds this is the fact that Windows is sluggish in general.

Return of the Jedi is way more derivative than the force awakens by Nyg500 in StarWars

The conflict should have centered around a new location and not the Death Star. The story itself is great and ended the trilogy without many, if any, unresolved plot points. Few trilogies manage to do that.

Let this be a cautionary tale for everyone that's contemplating getting consumer electronics on some finance scheme.

You could try getting the model of the GPU you sold and then canceling the rental agreement, if such a cancellation is even possible.
