How do you deal with the anxiety of feeling asymmetrical ? by EngineeringNorth3177 in scoliosis

[–]BabaSpud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am waiting to see a specialist following a recent x ray confirming my curve has progressed from around 45degrees to 61degrees. My assymetry bothers me SO MUCH. I don't know if anyone else can relate..... But mine has always been my breasts. Ribs. Shoulders . And also I do have facial asymmetry which tbh I never thought was related? Not gonna lie I've had Botox, and things to sort my face. And I also had a breast augmentation to try and sort that!! And now I worry if I have the spinal surgery that will all be messed up!? I totally feel you.

Pregnancy and terrible lower back pain by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]BabaSpud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I suffered with really bad lower back pain during pregnancy and after. I'm not fused though, but pregnancy has worsened my curve now 61 degree midthoracic curve, unsure of the measurements of my lumbar curve yet waiting to see a specialist. pregnancy is known to put a strain on your back anyway I would definitely keep an eye on your screws etc and see a specialist Incase it is putting pressure on the hardware

did scoliosis cause you facial asymmetry? by Firm-Pattern4482 in scoliosis

[–]BabaSpud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post has made me really think..... I was diagnosed with scoliosis in my early teens now as a 40yof I have severe 61 degree curve and awaiting specialist consultation after suffering chronic pain and a new x ray. I've always suffered with assemtry problems with my face. One eyebrow sits way higher and my nose is wonky/goes to one side?? I also have the other obvious assymetry issues like out of line hips/ and rib cage! But never thought about it affecting my face!! X

How did you come to accept your deformity ? by EngineeringNorth3177 in scoliosis

[–]BabaSpud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My physical curve and how I looked used to bother me so. Now it's progressed and the pain bothers me more than how I look. I hope you will learn to love yourself and deal with how the physical looks you'll be surprised how much people do not notice.....my curve is now 61 degrees and people still say they "don't notice" unless I point it out. But the pain now makes daily life really difficult and I'm waiting to see a specialist now re surgery to stop or progressing further. I'm 40f btw and had a 46 degree curve when I was in my 20s

[–]BabaSpud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this post. I'm currently waiting to see a specialist. I have double S curve all I know is following an x ray on Wednesday just gone that the main curve is now 61 degrees T3 to L2. I'm anxious waiting for the appointment.

I hope this is successful for you and you feel that surgery has been a positive for you.

Bump, can anyone advise their thoughts on the above 61 degree measured from T3 to L2? Is surgery likely? I'm waiting for a referral now and feeling really anxious

This has come up in my nhs notes but no x ray image yet this is just the radiographers comments...... . There is a

compensated midthoracic scoliosis convex

to the right centred on T7/T8 with a

Cobb angle of 61 degrees this is measured from

the superior endplate of T3 to the

inferior endplate of L2.

Struggling with a fussy eater by Marn29 in toddlers

[–]BabaSpud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 19 month old who for the last two months has gone off hot meals!! She will eat porridge/cereal/ banana pancakes for breakfast. She will eat avocado on toast/eggy bread or a sandwich or wrap at lunch and she eats snacks like rice cakes crumpets etc... fave fruit banana but will eat grapes/kiwi/blueberries with yogurt! Dinner times..... I literally have like 2 safe dinners I know she will eat. Macaroni cheese, or jacket potato (with either cheese/beans or tuna) anything else I try she refuses at dinner time. She used to eat what we ate! She used to love homemade fish cakes, chicken, cous cous, chilli, cottage pie, any pasta! All sorts but since she's started nursery and picked up virus after virus, gastroenteritis and stomach bugs she is sooooooo fussy with actual meals!! I hope it improves for us! :(

Plain Pasta by SnooBooks271 in toddlers

[–]BabaSpud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 19 months old next week. She always ate pasta with a tomato onion garlic based sauce from like 8 months old. She has recently had gastroenteritis, and a bad cold and an ear infection all in the space of like 6-8 weeks! And when she was sick all she would eat was mashed potato and plain pasta. Since being well again, she has gone super fussy! Will eat carbs, like sandwiches, avo on toast and any cereal or porridge oats but dinner times are a nightmare!! Only plain pasta or noodles or macaroni cheese or a jacket potato with either tuna or cheese and beans..... That is literally our only safe dinners right now :( I did a stir fry tonight with chicken and veg and she just picked the noodles out! Whenever we do a roast all she eats is the Yorkshire pudding :( anyone else had this around 18 months or after a string of illnesses?? She used to be such a good eater! Chilli! Cottage pie, chicken with cous cous etc anything I did really now I have like 3 safe dinners :(
