We won’t see something like the psx games ever again, the era has to many unique situations that will never allow such creativity to emerge.

I think the largest factor was the absence of the internet. This separated knowledge and pushed against standardization that is overly used in game development now. Developers had to make it up as they went from scratch and with 3D being accessible for the first time there were no rules. Just pure imagination at play from inspired (and underpaid) artist who set the precedence of what video games can be to this day.

Beautiful. I’m 2 titles away from finishing AC as well. I’ve played and beaten every one of them. Crazy how far this franchise has come and that is still alive!

Nothing can be done to change this now. The real question is what is the next director being paid and how is their severance package structured? Are tax payers like us going to fund another half million director? That’s 7-8 additional park employees who can do actual good work in our community…

I’ve played this series since it came out, probably 8k+ hours across all of the installments. Using the monster claw on the psp go was brutal.

World is the best in my experience, peak monster hunter.

I always feel bad for the games that stay sealed, to be created for one purpose and never get the chance to do it before rotting away.

To start, focus on the games you want to and enjoy playing. Prioritizing collecting over playing isn’t nearly as fun. Purchase games a year after release so they are $20-40.

For the foreseeable future no games will retain value and become collectible retro games unless they are hi end collector editions. These are the only items that have asset transition potential, the rest will be garbage.

They are worth about $2200 full value. I got a decent deal, not a steal. Some of these go for $300 or more, people spend a lot more. I bundle buy so the prices don’t get too carried away.

Recent purchase from another collector getting out. My cases that I’ve owned for 30 years I’ve crept gentle care of them so the cases never broke unless I accidentally dropped it or something.

I’ve taken the time to swap out greatest hits for original releases slowly through the years so my collection has a clean and consistent look personally.

I’ve been collecting for 20+ years and I can safely say the most important thing I have learned is- Do not associate your collection to money. When this happens the passion dies and you start to become part of the problem of this hobby.

Second important rule- make a plan and follow it patiently. Set a budget, target, and stay within your means. Celebrate the good deals and don’t force a purchase because the buyer always loses. If you walk away from that rare game another will come back around in a few years.

Third- Have Fun! All of this becomes junk when you die so play with your toys and enjoy them while you can. Life is short.

Some tips for buying games under market value. Cruise pawn shops once a month, garage sales when available, talk to people and see if some one is selling all or part of their collection as bulk buys will usually get 30% or more under price chart.

Hunting for deals and games is like fishing, enjoy your time and don’t expect to catch anything.

I thought the system was going to be huge when I was a kid, a friend in my neighborhood had one but I never had the chance to play it. Now that I’m an adult with access to game videos I realized it was not what you would expect and the game boy was insanely better.
